A uni friend of mine lived in a big old house not far from me, and one night she and a girlfriend saw an old man with a white beard walk into her room. They screamed and he walked off down the hallway. The family then did some research on the house and it turned out it was built and owned in the 1880's by the first headmaster of an old private school here in Melbourne, and he died in 1909. The went to the school archives and found a photo of this man, a Mr Budd, and the girls freaked out and said it was him. They put up the photo and a little history about the house inside the front door. A year or so later my friend was alone when she saw him in her doorway one night and she said "Go away Mr Budd, this is my house now." He looked at her and walked off down the hall. That was about 15 years ago and they've never seen him since.

My friend was not prone to stories etc, and would be on the verge of tears when recalling all of this so I believe that she's telling the truth of what she saw, but I still don't believe in ghosts myself. Doubting Thomas I know!

Just goggled him and here is a picture of the man himself, Mr Budd:

      Spooooooky!

I think I have told this story before. When I was in High School my best friend's mother had some form of cancer that was slowly killing her. I used to listen to my radio at night and usually fell asleep with it on. One particular night, I woke up and the radio was on. I reached over to turn it off and all I can say is that I saw what looked like a shadow pull the plug right out of the wall....really scary and I don't think I slept the remainder of the night. The next morning, I turned over just to see if I had imagined it all but sure enough the plug was pulled. As I went to school that day; I found out that my best friend's mother died that very night. I don't know to this day if it was a realistic dream or I really saw something.

I also know when my father died 15 years ago; I would have dreams about him being alive. I would walk into our childhood home to visit my mom and there my dad was sitting saying hello to me like he always did in the past. I remember asking him in my dream why he was there because I knew he had died. His response was "You only thought I died, but I'm really alive." I'm sure it was my way of dealing with the grief. My sister had even stranger dreams about him. She said he talked to her in a dream and told her he was fine and in a great place. She remembers strangers surrounding him but didn't know who they were. She described what they looked like to my mom and it spooked my mom because the descriptions matched exactly what my grandparents looked like even though my grandparents died before we were born and we didn't have any pictures of them.

Weird stuff. I do believe we all have a soul so although I am not sure whether or not ghosts exist even though I have experienced some strange stuff...I guess it's possible.

20 years ago, my best friend's father died.
His father's favourite possession was a big wooden statue of Jesus. It stood next to the fireplace.
One night my friend had a dream of his father, standing next to the statue.

A year later, their house burned down due to a problem in the chimney.
          The whole house was gutted.
One thing remained totally untouched: the wooden statue.

Years ago, I saw the figure of a naked girl in the window at the house across the road.
It was the most beautiful vision I had ever seen. I couldn't take my eyes off her.

That very same week, her parents got a restraining order against me, and we had to move....

Had that happen. Don't think they were too happy to find me in their house.

I'm in the minority I guess... I'm not a believer in ghost stories.

It would be cool if it were true though.

I am the only member of my family who has not actually seen a spirit, ghost, whatever you want to call it. My mother, father and sister all saw the spirit of who we later learned was my great-grandmother. She stayed at my parent's house for years. My mother first encountered her as a child at her parent's house. She eventually followed her into adulthood. My grandmother gave my Mom one of those old wooden and metal slide-viewers that had belonged to my great-grandmother. Shortly after this came to our house, weird things began to happen, and the spirit again appeared to my mother. My mother claimed she communicated with her, and I believed her.

For years, none of the rest of us ever saw her, just heard strange noises, lights going off and on, objects go missing and then reappearing in the most obvious places after hours of searching.

Then my father caught her walking through the shower wall. Up until then, he doubted everything my Mom had said. A few years later, my sister saw her as she walked right past her in the living room. My Mom said she would even see her in the yard, and I used to regularly see someone walk up to our front door through the house windows, only to find no one anywhere on the street. The closest I ever came to seeing her was when someone walked past me in the hallway as I hung a poster on my door. I assumed it was my mother, but I went down the other end of the hall, and she was still in the kitchen. Whoever walked past me would have to be in the bathroom, and no one was there.

I believe "Gretta" as we called her, was a guardian angel, and she watched over my mother, for whatever reason. After my mother passed away, my father never saw her again, or even heard anything unusual.

My wife doesn't like to talk about it, but not long after we were married she saw a man walk through one wall of the house we were renting, and out another. She came to me in the other room white as a sheet and completely flabbergasted. She is the last person on earth to believe in such things, but she couldn't doubt her own eyes. The house belonged to my grandmother but at one time was a funeral home.

I have some friends who are into ghost-hunting, but I've been around it all my life, and frankly, I've had enough personal experiences even without seeing one face-to-face. I'll stick to watching the TV shows about the paranormal, thank you.
