Blockbuster closing 960 stores. How often do you rent?

I read this article and got to thinking about it. I don't rent too much anymore. And when I do, it's from a place down the street called "Family Rental" where I can get new movies for $2.50. If the movies are older than 6 months I can rent them for that same price and hold them for five days! Even with those deals I STILL don't go in there much except to buy used copies. I can typically get a used DVD for between $9.99 and $14.95 after the movie has been out six weeks. But going to Blockbuster? I can't tell you the last time I was in there, let alone a year!

wow that's a lot. The other day i passed by the one I use to work at when i was younger and it had closed down

I use netflix now which is good if you catch the new release on time when it first comes out but if you miss it you're screwed. I waited almost 2 months for a movie that when i walked in Blockbuster they had 100 copies off

So I'm not that impressed with Netflix either but it is more convenient

      Blockbuster sucks ......

Their stores only carry newer movies ....

and online - forget it !!!

I got Blockbuster free for one month (3 DVD's at a time)
I wound up getting 5 by the time the month ran out --- and they were from the bottom of my que.
Compared to Netflix where sometimes I can get 15 in a month.

I would recommend to everyone -- DO NOT GET BLOCKBUSTER ONLINE !!!
      They suck !!!

I have a Blockbuster between work and home so it is convenient for me. I usually rent a pile of movies every week.

The thing about Blockbuster is "don't rent new movies". I can rent older movies for a buck a piece for five days and I earn points towards new rentals that way.

            Also,
If you have Blockbuster online and return your online rental to your local Blockbuster store --- it still takes almost a week for the online que to acknowledge they got it back and send you another.

I went to Blockbuster last week and rented Batman Dark Knight. First time I had been there in 6 months.
I find the older I get the less movies I watch

                  Me too.

I mostly rent just old TV shows ... which Blockbuster stores never carry any anyway.

I mainly rent things for the kids although I did rent Taken and Ink Heart while they were away this summer. That's the last time I've been in one. And they never carried the EMCE Trek figures so that was a bust as well.

I haven't rented at Blockbuster in years. Way too expensive. I either buy movies, use Redbox for $1.00 a movie, or use the local mom and pop video shop (because the Redbox near my work doesn't rent Blu-rays yet) which is about half the price BB charges. Blockbuster should have gone out of business years ago, they are just prolonging the inevitable.

We don't have a Blockbuster here, just a "Movie Warehouse" and one other place. I think it's still open.

My wife works at the local library, and they get most of the new titles in upon release, so we just check them out there for free.

Between that, Netflix, the Red Boxes everywhere, and the $5 bin at Wal-Mart, it was only a matter of time before these high-priced dinosaurs began to tumble.
