Discipline, in whatever form or generation, should only be administered from the child's parents or guardians (depending on the situation). Anyone who would dare lay a hand on my kids would not be breathing. That guy is an idiot.
If this were more than an isolated incident I could see the uproar. Luckily it seems as though the outbreak of Geezer Smacking Baby Syndrome has been located and successfully quarantined in a Walmart, go figure.

I thought Chinese buffet's had their share as well
Surely all kids do not respond to adult reasoning.
"Jimmy, im very disappointed in you -- you should know setting the neighbor's dog on fire was not the right thing to do"
Somehow I don't think that would work.
Well, speaking as a teacher, I'm definitely NOT allowed to hit anyone's child, but I do manage to keep them in line. Time out, extra chores, writing lines, yard restrictions, losing priviledges. They are not allowed to speak to me any ole way, I don't just ask for respect, I demand it. And my kids love me for it.
"Do you believe, you believe in magic?
'Cos I believe, I believe that I do,
Yes, I can see I believe that it's magic
If your mission is magic your love will shine true."
But I have no problem saying something to someone elses older kid in a store.
IF the kid is running around screaming and being annoying I will tell the to shut up and behave.
I didn't tolerate that behavior from my own kids, and I won't put up with it from other people's kids.
Either make them behave in a decent maner, or remove them from the store.
But when it comes to little ones, 3 and under. There isn't much you can do.
Especially when you are shopping for everyday items.
You have to get food. And if you don't have a sitter, you have to take the kid.
And at that age, there is no resoning with them. And sometimes there is no consoling them.
If he would have come near my kids I would have killed him!!!
Dead!!!
As in DEAD!!!
Who the F@#$ walks up to a two year old and slaps them several times?
I don't give a flying F@#$ who he thinks he is I would have killed him.But that's just me?
Maybe I'm crazy,Perhaps I'm going to walk around slapping people if they don't smile and say hello to me!?!?!?!?
sorry but i couldn't resist. i wouldn't kill the guy, i would punch his face a few times tho and maybe kick him in the chest a couple when he's down but not kill him
I don't think Publicly Disciplining youre Child with Force is really allowed Here anymore either,.. at lest Not to the Extent it was when I was growing up in the Late 70'd/80's ..
There was this Lady about a Yr ago,.. when I was walking into the Grocery Store that was spanking Her child in the Parking Lot..., Someone Yell'ed at Her, & Told Her to Take it Home,.. She Replied with a Big Old "F U" ..., & The Other Lady said She was calling the Cops,.. well, wouldn't you know it,.. there just Happened to be a Cop in the Parking Lot. Weird.
When I walked outta the Store,.. The Lady was in the Back of the Cop Car,.. so I decided to walk by the Cop Car,.. to be Nosey ofcourse. He was telling Her, she what She was being arrested for,.. & wanted to know if Someone could pick the child up.
Now Sure,.. it very well could have been a couple of things that Led to Her Arrest,.. Who Knows. I just remember My ChildHood, & Straight Up Getting My Arse Beat Down in Public When I did Something Stupid.
The Last Time I went to Chucky Cheese,.. There was an Altercation with My Son,.. & some Dude. The Dude Had his Hand Up,.. & was literally going to Hit my Son for Knocking over His Quaters on Accedent. I was using the Bathroom,.. & just Happened to come Back in time... The Guy caught eye contact with Me,.. then Put his Hand Down. I looked at the Guy & Told Him that was the Best Decission He Had Made thus Far in His Life,.. & My Son was sorry for Spilling his Quaters.
People are Crazy..., Always Watch Your Kids In Public.
My Only Question with this Story,.. IS ... Were the 2 Yr Old & Man Fighting over HotWheels ? ... I have scene some weird stuff in that Isle.
... The Original Knight ..., Often Imitated, However Never Duplicated. The 1st Knight in Customs.

That would not surprise me in the least. While I have not witnessed first hand any hand to hand combat in the Hot Wheels aisle I have heard of plenty of real true stories. There was two guys (grown ups mind you) that got into a fight (literally) over stoopid Hot Wheels in a Wal-Mart store. I just go there in time like you did to see the both of them carted away by the cops. When I asked the nearest Wal-mart employee what happened that was the story that they told me. Friggin idiots! There was another true story with the same ending over Starting Line Ups back in the day when they were really popular.
I can remember seeing on TV when I was younger a fight in a store over a Cabbage Patch doll. This is when everyone was going ape over trying to get their little kid one for Christmas. It was on the news and I still remember seeing the clip of the lady holding a baseball bat in her hand.
What some people won't do (to show someone else how stupid they really are) for attention I tell you.
In the 80's when Return of the Jedi Came out...
The AFEE's BX Store on Base was having a Huge Star Wars Sale ,.. these things were like 2 for a Buck or something...
My Mom Tells me of Stories of Fist Fighting with Large B/O Infested Women over Stormtroopers & Ewoks. ... It was Mob Worthy.
... Knowing what We Know Now,.. Stormtroopers,.. ok, I can possibly see that,.. But Ewoks ? ... Alrighty Then.

It never ceases to amaze me. Maybe I should reconsider the way I think about preorders in the future. LOL!!!
Enjoy what you like, and let others enjoy what they like. (C) Azrak 2009
