My inlaws are already wondering what the heck my big ape project is about. I was trying to figure that one out. It must have been my announcement about the big ape gathering at the San Diego Comic Con in 2010 that I put on Facebook. That's the thing about Facebook...my inlaws get to see what I am up to, so I have to rethink what I post.
My husband would never forgive me for wearing an ape outfit in Kenya. It always troubles him to see the sparkle in my eyes when I am thinking about donning ape regalia.

Now, if you would have went there in costume, that would have made for some great pics and stories.No. I got stares regardless. The stares I got just from walking around is the same kind of stare I receive when I wear my ape makeup in public and do human stuff, like shop for fruit. It's what happens when you are the odd chimp out.

Here are some more photos. This was the bee that stung Ethan's foot. We had already warned him not to go barefoot. The bee was on the kitchen floor.

Here is the Kenyan version of Monopoly:

Does this mean they only made 410 of these games?

Standing in front of the sign which read: Mens club. No ladies allowed.

A young thorn tree:

This spider jumped on my hand as soon as I took the photo. It wasn't really that big. Only about an inch or two long.

Warthog posing for a photo at the Nairobi Animal Orphanage:

Beautiful beach shot:

Me and Ashton at the beach:

I took a chance and photographed this cheetah through a big hole in a chain link fence at the animal orphanage.

I don't know the name of this bird...I don't remember. It was at the animal orphanage, and I stuck the camera inside its cage:

A flowering tree:

I had a lot of downtime there, so I was able to knit a fisherman's sweater for my newborn nephew. Here is Axis modeling the sweater:

Cool pix. So, did you get a lot of stares while toting them around?Leave a comment:

One of my favorite ape quotes is from Beneath...
(Fake)Cornelius to Brent - If you are caught by the gorillas, you must remember one thing.
Never to speak!... if they catch you speaking, they will dissect you, and they will kill you, in that order.
They will have to nod their vows I guess. That could be passed off as imitative behavior.Leave a comment:
