Ah. It's just a trailer for a spoof sequel. A friend of mine sent me the link, and I had my hopes up too before I actually watched it. -
Actually, my computer at work doesn't have a video card so I wasn't able to view it.
So I'll have to wait until I get home to see it.Leave a comment:

Actually, it had more to do with the fraternity of hardcore classic game players and with Steve being an outsider to this group, the amount of hoops he had to jump through to be accepted and how different rules applied to different people (i.e. Steve wasn't allowed to submit a high score via video tape and have it validated but Bill Mitchell was allowed).Leave a comment:

Saw it this past weekend on G4. It seems to me that Steve was just caught up in the middle of the fight between the guy gripping about the Missile Command high score and Twin Galaxies. I think if Steve had avoided him, things wouldn't have been as hairy as they were.Leave a comment:

Should be interesting. The first movie was excellent. My kids have the 2007 Guiness Book of World Records and sure enough Steve Wiebes name is listed as World Record holder until Billy Mitchell beat it again after the book was published.
My guess is that Mitchell has an even better record video taped but is content with sitting on his current record until the time comes that someone topples his most recent record.
Although Mitchell came across in the documentary as a bit of a villain, I give the guy props. He has a brain that is just outside the norm (which I guess is why he comes across as a little bit creepy as well). I think he holds a couple of other video game records as well including being the first person to finish a complete game of Pac-Man grabbing every single ghost, bonus token, etc. with only one Pac-Man. I can't even fathom being able to accomplish anything close to that but then again, I don't sit around spending who knows how many hours playing video games and actually sketching out strategies on how to beat the games inherent logic.Leave a comment:

yeah, brings back memories of days at the pizza parlors and the boys club. we did the 'quarter up' thing all the time. i really need to see this movie! didn't even know it was out!Leave a comment:

One of the things that made mein the bonus features was the arcade glossary, which contained "Quarter up" among the arcade terms. "Put your quarter up there!" It was something we used to do all the time and I'd forgotten about. When someone was playing the game you wanted to play, you set your quarter on the ridge at the bottom of the screen, or sometimes along the top nameplate, thus securing you would get next game. Anyone else do that all the time?

It's Mitchell, not Fisher.
Of the two guys, Wiebe comes off as a nicer, more normal fellow, but I can also imagine someone like Billy Mitchell coming off badly largely as a result of having people like Brian Kuh and Steve Sanders putting their heads up his butt all the time.
I did love his Shaun Cassidy hair and USA Flag ties....classy!Leave a comment:

If this ever comess out on DVD (wasn't last I checked) I'd definitly pick it up.
I love old school games and actually they are the eason I haven't picked a current generation console or portable. PS2 has some awesome complilations of classic games which I have almost all of. I also have tons of old school games for my Gameboy advance. Many of which I haven't seen for the current gen portables.Leave a comment:

I love old school arcade games. I really don't care for these new modern ones, I really don't.
Donkey Kong, Pac-Man, Asteroids, Defender, Tempest, Joust, Tron, Galaga, Centipede, Space Invaders, etc...they are all equally awesome.

Looks one to look out for ....hated the original space invaders...was always an astoroids man myself...until Star wars came out...there used to be a fair that came to Hampstead Heath every easter that had a sit down cabinet version right up till the 90's and I would always go up there with a pocket full of 10ps. Loved Tempest too and 1942 but that was much later.Leave a comment:
