I saw the movie this weekend in Seattle. It's *ubelievable* how amazing it is, and how it captures people and the BS that goes on inside many "cliques" - this Steve Wiebe guy was bascally trying to crack a cult and was getting stopped at every turn.

You can never guage a person how they are portrayed on screen, becaue the filmmaker gets to decide what you see and what you don't. But Billly Mitchell doesn't come off looking so great. One of the best "villains" in a movie in a long time.

I mean, just from the standpoint of a movie, it's amazing how gripping it is, and how much you root for the "good guy" to win.

Highly reccomended if you have even a passing interest in the subject matter.

Yeah, right after Megos and right before girls. It was Space Invaders, Pac man and DK Jr in that order. I could drop all my money in a couple of hours.

I had a friend that claimed the world record at Joust. He was Big Time in small town USA.

    Very cool,
Back in the day I was hooked on that game. Thats the reason I bought a Colecovision so I could play that game.

Few months ago I found a DK game at Dave and Busters. Thats where I spent the rest of my day.

I will never forget DK and Pacman and the absolute craze that hit.

The local carnivals/county fairs used to set up arcade tents and it was unbelievable when Pac Man arrived. I'm starting to sound like a grandpa but $.25 was not chump change back then to play a game and when Pac Man debuted, they charged $.50 per game and there was a huge line of people just for the opportunity to give it a go.

I don't know how many quarters I spent on Donkey Kong when that came out but it was a lot.

Now, when you walk into an arcade, you hardly see any games. Most of the time they are games of chance that spit out tickets to turn in for cheap prizes. It is basically legalized gambling for kids and my kids will feed those machines like nobodys business. No skill involved. One of them is basically a roulette type wheel, hit a button and a ball pops down and into a hole with a number and that is the number of tickets you get which can range from 1 maybe up to 200 or so. But it takes 400 or 500 tickets just to purchase a cheezy $1 store plushed animal.

When I take my kids to the these places, I'll hit a skee ball machine or play a good old fashioned game of pinball which nobody ever seems to be playing.

DONKEY KONG is one of my favorite things I've ever experienced
in my life...seriously...I'm an old school arcade game lover
and DK and PACMAN were, like, the two biggest---and I'm more of a
"DK man" than a "PM man"----my heart will always truly lie with
the original STAR WARS game though----anyways---wish I could see this
    ---but I probably won't---for a myriad of reasons---starting with that I
    don't have a T.V./cable hookup

    Keep swinging that hammer though!

I would love to see it, but I don't think it's coming anywhere near here. I will pick it up on DVD.

I am totally obsessed with the new version of Pac-man called Pac-man Championship Edition... it's an Xbox Live Arcade game with a leaderboard, so you can see how your score ranks with everyone else's. I'm ranked in the top 10 in the world on 5:00 Championship Mode (at least, last time I checked), and I waste hours a day working and trying to improve my score. The catch is, this game is timed, only five minutes long, so I can watch my pace and quit if I am doing poorly or get killed; I'd guess I probably start forty or fifty games a day, and play through maybe five to ten.

I cannot imagine trying to practice to break a record on an old school arcade game where you would have to sit and play one game for hours and hours at a time to even reach a point where you know you might get a record. It just boggles my mind how someone could sit to rack up a million points on a game where you might score 100,000 points in a half hour.
