I havent read all the posts/replies to your issue. First of all, sorry to hear about that, not cool at all. But do you have the guys current address? Try sending him a certified letter, of course he could receive it and say whatever, but you will know he's alive. Did you check for his name on myspace? Facebook? Sucks, but lets hope he reads all this and comes through.

Basically, you just did contribute to a "deadbeat" list. All you can really do in these situations is let the rest of the group know to beware.

We don't have an "official" deadbeat list because that would require us to moderate it. We'd have to decide whether the guy adding someone to the list was adding that someone fairly. Some people can be unreasonable and start adding names because of some little thing they were unhappy about that was never promised in the first place.

We don't "boot" someone for trades gone bad. They do it enough, they don't last long around here anyway. The group tends not to tolerate their presence and they leave all on their own. We don't get officially involved in people's personal transactions. Again, we'd have to listen to both sides of the transaction, sit an judge who was right and who was wrong, what was fair and what was not, and make a decision. Nothing against you, but using your case as an example, how would we know for sure you actually sent anything? All we have is you saying you did. We'd have to decide whether you were telling the truth, or whether you had some personal issue with the other guy and was just trying to get him banned. There are people petty enough to pull that kind of crap.

In short, it would be a full time job, and one we just don't have the time for.

So the best bet is to do what you did. State your case, let the community beware and chime in, and decide for themselves whether or not to deal with the guy in the future or not.

If the trader in question was booted, that would guarentee that you'd never hear from him/her. No matter what the reason is, you can still hope he/she might log on and try to make things right. If this person can't access pms, then any chance is lost. I suppose I'm being an optimist, but I've seen stranger things happen.
The easiest way to see who is worth dealing with is to use the Search function and look for threads regarding a user. I know that's not 100%, but I also don't buy from newer members until I start seeing them contribute to the forums. Once they're around for a while, then I make a decision whether or not I want to buy/trade with them.

Guess from know on when it comes to trading I'm going to have to have the people I trade with agree to send to me first and I will send when I get my item so this will not happen again.

your situation sucks. luckily it is a low dollar item. i would suggest not using the policy you stated above or you will be the guy you don't like. the vast majority of trades do not have issue. you may want to just stick to purhase / sale for members you do not know.

My situation doesn't compare to yours because technically I have not lost anything except time ... but i've had a rash of people here claim to want to buy my stuff .. and then they disappear and never pay.

I'm left holding this stuff and don't know whether I should try selling it again -- or are they planning to pay someday.
They don't answer PM's either.

It sucks because i'm selling my stuff because I need the money NOW.

Just an update.

I still havent heard a thing from Ernie and probably won't.
But on a Brighter note I have since made a trade with Toys2Cool and could'nt be happier with the way that trade turned out

With a little work I ended up with a very SWEEEEEET ROBIN
