Dealing in trades is iffy thing at best, Thats why I prefer to use money orders (mostly).
NOw I feel That he had every intension to commit fraud.
If he didn't state that he receive the item nor stated his item has been ship, than that reinforces my belief.I had sellers inform me item will ship late do to death in family or a crisis or payment was not received yet but they contacted me none the less.
The solution would be 3 third party Mailing , Both Traders agree to send to a third person, who then mails items at the same time , with proof of delivery.
some guys do it now, with sellers on ebay who do not ship out of the US.

I too am kind of bothered by the mere suggestion of this rule. An individual's post count is totally irrelevant to their sense of responsibility.

One's post count has nothing to do with how long they have "been around".
Though I may not have a response or post in every single thread, I log on to these boards daily. I have used the marketplace to sell several times, preferring to do so in order to give a "heads up" to any fellow board members, plus saving on the eBay fees isn't all bad either. I treat my dealings in the marketplace with a high sense of urgency and don't feel that I need to be restricted because there are those that are incapable of doing so.

Remember, communication is key in all transactions. Be they trades or purchases.

It always sucks when something such as this happens, but please do not make generalizations.

Good luck and I hope this ends well.

Yup, totally AGREED. I had one guy tell me he was bed-ridden with a cold for weeks, etc.. It's like.., HUH..?

Unless he's living in some rodent-infested sty, it's hard to imagine not being able to at least muster up strength to walk over to a computer and send an email message saying, 'Hey, I'm ill but just wanted to update you, etc..'

Sorry, but I usually don't take much stock in those excuses. If a month goes by for either the seller or buyer, then SOME act of good faith (such as a refund or something..), is definitely in order.

It's not only courtesy, but it's essential in any/all on-line transactions.

Death or at least a vegetative coma is the only excuse acceptable. A Gmail address is free and you can grab a wifi link at a million places if you lose internet. Simply no excuse for not contacting someone. Even if you don't have the cash to ship it, you at least keep em in the loop. They may not like it but at least they're not guessing what's going on. Everyone falls on hard times at some point but it's not cool to simply ignore your responsibilities.

I agree with everyone. If there is a problem keep communication lines open. I tend to mail things a little slower than I like , but I also try to communicate with people so they know. I hope this works out for you because it would suck if it dosen't.

Perhaps a proper feedback section would go a long way towards allowing people to benefit from other Mego Museum members good/bad(or lack of any) experiences with people on here? I always found this helpful on other boards.

Another 5 days have come and gone and still not a word. Guess I'm just going to have to chalk this up to experiance and except the fact that I just gave a 8" Superman away and start looking for a Penguin to add to my collection.

Guess from know on when it comes to trading I'm going to have to have the people I trade with agree to send to me first and I will send when I get my item so this will not happen again. I will more then likely loose out on some trades doing this but I guess that is better then having items stolen from me. Also I really think that CSXERNIE should be kicked off these boards as I don't want to see other members here get stolen from and feel that this is not a place where this should be tolerated.

My situation doesn't compare to yours because technically I have not lost anything except time ... but i've had a rash of people here claim to want to buy my stuff .. and then they disappear and never pay.

I'm left holding this stuff and don't know whether I should try selling it again -- or are they planning to pay someday.
                        They don't answer PM's either.

It sucks because i'm selling my stuff because I need the money NOW.

To me this isn't a joke.

I have never traded - I have given things away and been given things. no problems that way.

I understand you don't want to get burned again, but I promise you, if you were to attempt that kind of trading here, you probably would never be able to trade. There is a certain level of trust in a trade, and with that comes risk. Anyone you trade with has the same concerns about you and you about them. Anyone that would say to me "I'll send yours when I get mine" would automatically send up the red flag with me, and I can't imagine there is ANYONE here that would go for that.

Every once in a while you'll get burned, but when you consider the amount of trading that goes on here every day, and compare it to the number of "trades gone wrong" posts you see, it's pretty amazing what an honest group we have.

Your probably right but isnt there a feedback page we can put up and what do we do about deadbeat traders here. should he not be booted at the very least?
