well i'm a huge Elvis fan cause of my mom of course,I always remember her talking about this when we were younger and how she had 2 tickets to one of the concerts before he died, she said she almost passed out when she heard the news ..that a part of her died that day,I think it's funny how obsessive we could be sometimes especially with celebs, she always says she will never love another man like she did Elvis and in front of my Stepdad ,so his response is ok you could have Elvis if I could have J-Lo

I was 16 and didn't care that he'd died. He'd stopped being relevant in the '60s.

Hahahha! True but the 70's were about live shows and Jumpsuits...Thanks to him were would we be without all those Fat Elvis's running around today!

I was 10 and living in Dale City, Virginia. I remember my mother crying and asking what was wrong - she would not tell me. Later, my dad said, "Oh, her boyfriend died."

I too was 11. I wasn't a big Elvis Fan though. I remember at 11 I was rocking out to KISS . Elvis was my Mom's music.

I was in my grandma's dining room, and I heard it broadcast over the kitchen radio. I was sad. I was seven, and I thought he was cool.

When Buckwheat was shot years later, it was like Elvis all over again. Life goes on..........

I was in our hallway (we lived in a trailer then) playing with my Hot Wheels, Captain America Trans Am.

I really don't even know why I remember it. While I've grown to like his music now, I was in no way a fan then.

I was 10 years old and the only reason I knew who Elvis was when he died was because a couple months earlier I was on a cub scout field trip to the airport and he was arriving (totally accidental timing) at the same time. We were with a small group of cheering fans when he went away in a Limousine(small group because he kept his arrival quiet). All I saw was a waving hand from the open window.

I told Mom and she told me about Elvis, her tastes in music are older and she didn't mind Elvis but wasn't really a fan.

A couple months later, I heard he died.

I remember my mom telling me and I was sad about it. I really liked his early stuff, but I didn't care for all that Blue Hawaii crap that was big in the '70s.

Who cares whether he was "relevant" or not when he died? Many artists are not in their prime when they happen to die. It doesn't take away their previous accomplishments.
