    I LOVE Taxi.

Taxi became an acquired taste in later years.... Primarily once Reverend Jim Ignatowski joined. But as a kid, I think it was the depressing theme song that just set things off...and those early episodes had that John guy and Latka and I'm NOT a big fan of Latka. So Christopher Lloyd was a welcome addition and finally brought sunshine to the Sunshine Cab Co. IMO.

I HAVE THAT ON MY iPOD..! Reverend Jim always made me bowl over in laughter..

S&H ruled ~ I too was in Junior High and my buddy and I always tooled around on our 10speed bikes, pretending to be 'em (I was always Hutch).. By the last year, the show really felt like it had run it's course, 'course Hutch now had to have that cheesy mustache as well. It was just, less fun.

The highlight of the show was the Vegas special (2hr..?). After that pinnacle, it didn't have as many memorable highlights to me.

Funniest scene (besides the 'drivers test' scene), paraphrased..:

Elaine: Just how many letters go in/out of Brazil every year..?
        Jim: 1,263,593..
(Alex and Elaine stare at him startled...)

        Jim (exclaiming): Was I right...?!?

Or the scene where Jim's hired to sell vacuum cleaners, creates the mess in the woman's apartment, then discovers he's really selling encyclopedias..

evne if the real car wasn't a performance machine the way the show described it, it looked fast parked in front of the Police station. I was a huge fan of the show my only regret is I never got the mego car for starky and hutch so I just had to buy a full size one for myself

I'm with Mike Starksy and Hutch are no "friendlier" that other partner teams of the time (like Roy and gage in Emergency or the guys from Adam 12)

Besides being another person who's not a fan of Latka, I never cared for that obscure season-1 guy either ... I forgot his name.

Same here. I somehow saw every other show at the time but never S & H.
When the movie came out and the yput the first season on DVD I decided to give it a try. It was actually fun to not just "relive" something I'd seen before but view it fresh eyes. I ended up buying all four seasons.

If I remember correctly, the mom thought Starsky and Hutch was a little too "Rock and Roll" for me at the time. But I always watched Adam 12, Emergency and stuff like that. I did record the S&H pilot when it was on cable and liked it but never really had a chance to check out the series.

I thought the movie was good as spoofs like that go.

In the pilot, Captain Dobey was played by the guy who played Steve Martin's father in the Jerk.

He's got that really gruff voice.
