Why did I never watch Starsky and Hutch ?

Growning up in the 70's, I never watched Starsky and Hutch.
My police shows were always Columbo and CHiPs (weird combo, huh?)

    So I never watched S&H thoughout the 70's ...

In the late 80's I think I watched it once, but I really didn't watch it.
I was probably doing something and it was playing in the background.

That was my exposure to S&H up until a few days ago.

My nephew loaned me a few discs of S&H.

I thought i'd give it a try and really watch it.

    Dang !!!

I was surprised how much I like it -- and wondering HOW did I not see this show for the past 40+ years ?

This is a GREAT FUN SHOW !!!

Got a lot of catching up to do

Altho I loved Adam-12 as a kid (I remember drawing many pictures of their badges), shows like S&H, Columbo, and Beretta were never really on my radar. I did watch my fair share of CHiPs tho.

bro, you dont know what your're missing!! the early seasons starsky and hutch was more action and car chases. the later seasons focused more on drama and their relationship as cops.

I was surprised season-1 even had a different theme song ... and I actually like that one better then the later theme.
It's very generic, but hard pounding

I heard when they took a promo picture for the new movie Glaser refused to sit in the car for the shot ... I guess it's common knowledge he always truly HATED the car.
In the end, I think Hutch talked him into it

              Glaser:
The car is a character in the piece - I've never liked the car, I submitted to it's objectionable popularity. First of all I thought it was ugly, I thought it was ridiculous that undercover police guys would drive a striped tomato and I've never been a big champion of Ford.

                    Totally agree!

My favorites were Baretta, S&H, SWAT & The Mod Squad.

If someone can define how the memory of it was "killed" by a
funny Stiller re-make I'd be very interested to hear "how" this was done.

It's questions like these that keep me coming back time and time again to
                      the Museum boards

I mean, even if you didn't like the movie---how does it take away from your
                      enjoyment of the original series?

What's up with Huggy Bear ?
He's clearly the biggest snitch that ever was -- so why do bad guys tell him their secrets ?

                        Captain Dobey ......
                        I love this guy ...
The actor who plays Dobey really pulls off the tough teddy bear really well.
Dobey is my favorite character so far.

I never saw it when it originally aired, I was too young to stay up till ten.
It was kind of a cool legend among the kids. Then I saw it in re-runs later.
I was hooked. It is a great TV show.
I also recall when I was watching the re-runs how much my dad hated it.
I don't know if it was because it was on during the weather report or if
he thought the boys were too "friendly", as some guys thought back then.
Oddly enough, my dad was huge Columbo fan, and I hated it.
Now I'm going through a phase of watching all the Columbo movies.
Bottom line, it's weird how these shows are threaded through our lives.

I've only seen like 9 episodes so far, but I don't see their friendliness as anything more then just close brothers.

It might be unrealistic for a cop drama, but to me it seems perfectly innocent.

I don't know if there was any intentional subtext, but I doubt it.
Starsky and Hutch is not terribly realistic in a number of ways.
I mean, look at the car they go around in. Undercover my butt.
