Playmates Star Trek line. They were way overproduced and the line included obscure characters (come on now, old man McCoy, what kid wants that figure??)

This causes what is referred to as THE GOLDEN AGE of TOYS.

Breakage of toys never happens (this alone causes DC Direct to be profitable). Stactions are never produced (making some He-man fans sad, but which hastens the creation of the MOTUC line).

The overly trendy use of action figure collecting by those who really don't care about the toys is prevented. Angsty dark toys never see the light of day.. single handedly causing Generation X to be remembered as a "kind hearted, optimistic generation"

Todd McFarlane resorts to drawing an animated Alf Returns TV series (which is written by Brian Bendis), since no one takes his skills seriously.

        Waterworld is never produced.

        Consequence - nothing.

Well maybe tons of raw materials and fuel saved. plus some room on KB toys shelves for other items for about 10 years.

While Mego fans rejoice that theirs is the ONLY type of Star Trek toys available (a perpetual license), the lack of smaller scale ST toys (produced in HUGE numbers), diminishes the appeal of ST for the next generation...

No Star Trek movies are ever made ....

As a former Manager for KB Toys it's interesting to point out that the former company heads at Toys R Us bought KB Toys... which slowly self distructed under their control.

Oh no... the lines which separate the various realities are already blurring as a result of this thread!!

                    (Seriously, that is bizarre).

Yo...I don't mean to sound rude...but that unintended consequence comment on almost every post of yours...is kinda annoying.

It sounds very know-it-all and a tad pretentious.

Just a personal observation here...not an attack on you personally.

It was the purpose of the thread all along.... to have some fun with it.. (sorry you did not "get it") Instead of replies being just one more list, we'd all get to have some fun satirizing how choices might inadvertently effect other things (though none of the answers were ever supposed to be "serious." I mean, Mego buying Hasbro???)

Thanks for the observation ... I'm glad there are a lot of other threads here for you to enjoy...

(I hoped to make it into a tongue-in-cheek kind of thing that folks could bounce back and forth with). Sorry it's not for you ... Bu-bye!

And that's not a ..... "possible side effect" or .... (wait for it) ... an "unintended consequence"!!

Battlefield Earth. GO ahead, show me the earth shattering consequence of that toyline not being produced. Dare ya.

Hmm... that's a tough one.... How about...

                            Possible Side effect:

John Travolta's career skyrockets since there are no scathing reviews to contend with. (no toys to remind folks how bad the movie was).. he never gains the additional weight, is urged (like a certain actor named Arnold) to go into politics and ultimately becomes the Governor of New York!

                            Go Vinnie Barbarino!

(It also saved 6.4 cubic tons of plastic from landfills).

Years later, however, another company develops Bratz dolls, and without Mattel to sue them, they become the new standard in girl's toys....
Causing many young girls to look at dressing like a ***** as a good thing. Leads to the Bratz Dream Crackhouse and Big Pimpin Big Jim. The Pimpin Big Jim Mobile *****house is a fan favorite and very desired among vintage collectors.
It's not a doll it's an action figure.
