If you could erase 1 toyline from existence ....

If you could erase 1 toyline from existence, what would it be?? And why?

Remember though, that actions have consequences (and some critical lines have influenced others in terms of style or scale or even pricepoint) .

So if you could change history, which toyline would get voted out of reality? Why? And what effects do you think it might have as a result, changing history... creating a new timeline?? (If any)

Boom!! They're gone... so with no inspiration in 1976, Kenner decides instead to go with a larger scale for its Star Wars line. Hasbro follows suit with the Real American Hero in the 1980's.....

Finally the DC Infinite Heroes line and Marvel Universe 3 3/4" line of today are never developed (as the slightly larger Secret Wars and Super Powers scale come to dominate small scale action figures).

      Anybody else?

        Doesn't bother me.
By the late 70's I was too old for toys anyway

because instead of developing new characters, all they did was put ****ing donatello in a beach outfit, or leonardo in a goddamned baseball uniform. Now we get batman in a scuba suit instead of a good villian action figure. LAME.

            Possible side effects....

In 1987 Playmates Toys does NOT develop this line, and instead engages in secret talks to revive "older style" toys ... in 8" scale.

Mattel and Hasbro NEVER get a successful example of "creative" accessorizing, so millions of day-glo Batman are NEVER produced. (Childen are actually exposed ONLY to characters that are "on model.")

Mego customizers (pre Dr Mego) are left with 65% less unwanted bodies to customize into their favorite characters.

This causes the price of customs to skyrocket!!

(And several prominent Mego customizers become millionaires).

KENNER STAR WARS FIGURES... Mego would have gotten a second shot to make them instead...

                        Possible unintended consequences...

Gigantic profits allow Mego to purchase Kenner and later Hasbro (since neither can compete without such a large license).

After the Hasbro purchase, 12" GI Joes are replaced with an all Mego sized line... (Years later, Sigma Six becomes a giant hit among collectors).

Due to the HUGE number of Star Wars characters produced, there is a SURPLUS of Mego bodies available, depressing the cost of customs and making many customizers (wanting higher prices) depressed!

Due to lagging sales and general disinterest from the public, Mattel decides to cancel the Barbie line after the Christmas holiday becomes a financial pit for the line. Instead, the toy manufacturer decides to concentrate on its Hot Wheels line and Matty talking dolls.

                            Unintended consequence....

Many girls grow up with a more positive self image, not attempting to compete with Barbie's "dimensions."

Years later, however, another company develops Bratz dolls, and without Mattel to sue them, they become the new standard in girl's toys....

Anything by McFarlane Toys. Possible side effects... the end of chase figures and variants which have a tendency to kill toylines because collectors get frustrated trying to find them all. Good Riddance!
