When i lived in south Florida i rented a duplex and it had tile in every room except my roommates bedroom. Since i liked the cold much better i took the one with tile. I found it was colder in the winter and colder in the summer. I liked both. I am loking for some pics now but it has been a while since i lived down there. Also if you have pets and a laser pointer, it's great to watch them try and run and stop quickly chasing it.Comment

Hector, in looking where you live, I would think that poured concrete might not be the best option. I'd look into how likely they are to crack during an earthquake of any magnitude. The tile's probably a good idea since it's cheap and broken tiles are pretty easy to remove and replace if they crack. Then again, I just installed a bamboo floor in my living room, dining room, and hallway. The look is simply fantastic and it's a pretty simple installation.
Tile is an easy installation too, but I simply hate the whole waiting for the mortar to set, then waiting for the grout to set. Too much waiting time. Also, if you're as OCD as you mentioned, a large room has serious potential for misalignment of tiles. Once you get off a little bit on your tiles, you can start to skew everything. I messed up on one tile in my bathroom and it shifted everything incrementally. It bugs me to this day and I fear I'll have to rip it all out and start from scratch again.Comment

I had concrete poured into the patio dining area...and after a little aftershock...a little thin yard long crack appeared. You can't see it from this picture though...
For that area is fine...but if it happened inside the cottage...I'd go bonkers...lol.sigpicComment

Bro I just tiled up my whole house about 3 months ago, it was the biggest mission just because I had to remove the old tile and then lay down the new ones. It's pretty simple to lay them down...if you're doing it yourself( BUY KNEE PADS and something to support your back)
It's cheaper then wood, looks very nice and it lasts forever
scraping old grout
just layed down
done!these are 18x18's
