The #1 team will most likely emerge from the Confederation Cup as I expect Spain and Brazil to match up against one another for what will be a nice preview to the World Cup.
I wonder if Brazil will call up Ronaldinho for the game since I haven't seen him in any of the Confederation cup games so far."The farther we go, the more the ultimate explanation recedes from us, and all we have left is faith."

I am in disbelief!!!!!!!! 2-0.
I just came back from a local Sports pub and watched Spain just get their butts handed to them by the U.S. This was truly a David taking down Goliath.
The only thing that irritated me was Bradley's red card. Maybe we all see things through our subjective lenses but their seems to be some questionable calls against the U.S. I can understand a penalty and maybe a yellow card but he got all ball. 3 out of 4 games with red cards. The other countries do the exact same thing and I don't see red cards flying out....either way, I'm ecstatic."The farther we go, the more the ultimate explanation recedes from us, and all we have left is faith."

Agreed on the red card. Technically, his cleats were up but they went itno the ball. I will say the yellow Spain got was a non-call, also.
I'm just stoked the U.S. is in a final. I ma sooooo glad they did not stop trying to score with a 1-goal lead. Yeah, you get more defensive, but you have to keep on the counter. I am stunned.WANTED - Solid-Boxed WGSH's, C.8 or better.Comment

They were saying after the game that this ranks in the top 10 of all time U.S. upsets in U.S. soccer and would be the biggest upset if it had been a World Cup game.
Bring on Brazil for round #2. Hopefully, they can pull another upset.
I wonder where this will place USA in the next FIFA rankings. Obviously, Spain gets knocked out of #1. The U.S. gets beat pretty handily by Brazil and Italy but beats Eqypt and Spain.
If I were to guess, Egypt makes a big move up from their 40th rank given that they almost beat Brazil and beat Italy. Italy will fall by getting beat by Eqypt and crushed by Brazil but will probably drop only a couple of slots.
Spain will move down to #3, Germany becomes #1 and Brazil #2 (if they win the Confederation Cup).
U.S., now #14 I think has to move up into the top 10. If they beat (presumably Brazil) in the Confederation Cup championship, that should move them well into the top 10. Any other thoughts?"The farther we go, the more the ultimate explanation recedes from us, and all we have left is faith."

I think you are pretty close with the rankings, but its hard to tell. Egypt beats Italy who crushes the U.S. who then handles the best team in the world. Its enough to make your head spin. The only team to perform up to expectations is Brazil (so far).
I do think the U.S. will crack the top 10 with a respectable showing on Sunday.WANTED - Solid-Boxed WGSH's, C.8 or better.Comment
