We're not talking off field antics with Ruth history showed that yes he was a Handful. Realise that back in the Day it was boys will be boys when it came to drinking.....Hello Mickey Mantle and many others had a drinking problems.

As for Jim Rice he did not juice up because it would have been exposed already had he done that. Rice was one of the Most Feared hitters in the Game Mind you I'm a die hard Yankee fan and I dreaded him...But enjoyed seeing him in his prime.

Bonds was not tested during the years that he may have been juiced....Coincedence that he hit his 73 after McGuire hit his 70? a record that stood for so many years then all of a sudden Bonds has the power to hit that many homeruns to pass McGuire. Mind you Bonds had never hit 50 or 60 homeruns up to that time.....hmmm seems like roids to me....

and yes I'm sure there were Pitchers who were juiced also.

How do you Know Rice wasn't juiced?

Bonds has never failed a drug test that I know of.

I f you assume Bonds was juiced, then you have to assume some pitchers that he homered off of were juiced too.

MLB knew exactly what was going on and turned a blind eye.

        Sorry But....

Babe Ruth SAVED Baseball after the 1919 Black Sox scandel.. Nuff said on him

Jim Rice was a big ball player from Alabama ever since his 1975 rookie year, steroids in the 70's?? Never heard that one before..

        Bonds failing a drug test?

What does a so called "juiced pitcher" have to do with the batter??

MLB looking the other way is not acceptable..

Have you ever studied Baseball history the 1919 scandal almost put baseball out of business because noone trusted Baseball Players Remember this was the national Pastime During this era everyone loved baseball.

Also since when is Beer a Drug?

Big Mac and Sosa did bring Back some magic in that season but saved Baseball no way.

Yes Steroids was used during the 70's Arnold used them...but there is not one case from baseball players using Roids during the 70's.

Babe Ruth saved the sport hands down, please read anything on this subject or watch the Ken Burns documentory..

Beer technically is a drug.. BUT legal..

McGwire and Sosa brought attention and fans back to Baseball after the 1994players strike

Your right about Arnold but how can one mention Jim Ed??

If Barroid goes in the record books as the alltime home run king there should most definitely be an asterisk next to his record. Baseball's higher ups ruined Roger Maris (Life and Career) by putting an asterisk next to his name after he beat Ruth's single season record back in '61...the reasoning behind the asterisk was that Maris beat Ruth in a 162 game season and Ruth did it in a 154 game season. Maris is still in my eyes the single season Home Run King...always will be. Aaron will always be the Home Run King for most home runs in a career at 755. Barry should have been banned from baseball after his testimony ("I used this cream...but I had no idea it was steroids" ...Yeah, I have a Bridge in Brooklyn I want to sell you real cheap). He should be in jail for using an illeagal substance...which steroids was considered by the Federal Government back in '93. BTW, I think the person that comes out as a beacon of light on the steroids subject is Jose Cansecco. As much as people hate him, that book opened a lot of eyes. Here's one thing to consider, after Canseccos book was released...there hasn't been one player that has sued him for being mentioned. Not a single one. Here's something else to consider, Cansecco is writing a follow up to his book and guess who's name is being thrown around to be in the new book....ARod. Thing will start to get interesting. Seems like Junior (Ken Griffey Jr.) is the only clean one of the bunch. Shame he won't break Aarons record.

As for greatest ballplayer of all time...that really can't be determined. The problem is Baseball has evolved over the 100 + years of existence. Dead Ball, Smaller Ball Parks, and so on and so on. Been a baseball fan since 1975 (First game I went to was Mets vs. Cincinnati Reds) and there are so many people I didn't see play that I can't make a judgement. If I had to say by sheer athletisism (Sp?) I would have to put Ruth as the greatest that ever played. The man was a great pitcher and one of the greatest hitter of all time.
"When not too many people can see we're all the same
And because of all their tears,
Their eyes can't hope to see
                      The beauty that surrounds them
                      Isn't it a pity".

Completely agree. The man was a class act and put up with so much crap back then. It's just MHO and I'm sentimental because I saw it happen as a kid but he's the HR KING to me.

Again, all of his numbers are tainted. Before he moved out to San Fran he hadn't hit more than 34 homers in a season. Again, only one MVP before moving to San Fran. In my personal opinion Barry's been juicing since '93. Which, again IMO, means that if you look at his pre-San Fran stats...he's a VERY GOOD player. Not a great player. Here are Barry's stats if people are interested:

If you want proof that he juiced...look at his rookie card and then follow it year by year. NO ONE can get that big after 35....and he's gotten even bigger after 40. The man is a CHEAT and deserves absolutely nothing in my opinion. I hope the HOF passes on him when it's his time to be voted on to get into the HOF.

They should put up a new wing in the Baseball Hall Of Fame and put Bonds and Pete Rose in it..."HALL OF SHAME"
