I've seen most of the movies listed here and I would have to say I largely agree with the choices. No notable exceptions to any of the choices.

    I'd add "Serpico".

Fantastic movie. The interviews with the real Burt Munro (motorcyclist/subject of the movie) were even better. A true character.

Newton Boys is similar fun; the real counterparts are also quite a bit more lively than the Hollywood counterparts. Amazing that they tried to pull off a final bank job in their old age. Willis Newton (the ringleader and instigator) is a true character. This is the documentary that jumpstarted the 1996 movie
The Newton Boys, Joe Newton and Willis Newton: Portrait of an Outlaw Gang

The real tale given the Hollywood treatment that has effected me the most is Heavenly Creatures. I was a big Peter Jackson fan and was excited to see his first big budget feature. I left the theater in a daze. A very beautiful and disturbing flick about troubled kids with extremely active imaginations. The ending still makes me shudder.

Every movie on my list was changed considerably from the actual true-true story but i'm sure most movies are anyway.

    The Temptations
    Andersonville
    The Tuskegee Airmen
