Anyone watch this? I think the list was pretty much BS.:

    10: Homie don't play that.
9: Excuuuuse me! - Steve Martin on Saturday Night Live
8: Lucy, you got some splainin to do - I Love Lucy (interesting fact is that it was never said like this ever
7: Oh my God! They killed kenny
    6: Burn! - That 70's Show
5: we are two wold and crazy guys
    4: Ayyy! - Happy Days
    3: How you doin?
    2: "D'oh!"
    1: Yadda, yadda, yadda.

    #10, 6, & 3 shouldn't be top 25

    Yadda Yadda Yadda not #1

It was a 2 hour show on NBC this evening. They said who compiled it, but forgot (something like the American Motion Pictures people who compile the movie list for the CBS show)

I find that whenever they do these sort of lists, instead of all classic pieces, the top ten or twenty is loaded with stuff of recent vintage. I didn't think the Legendary line from How I Met your Mother was more memorable than something from Get Smart or Laugh-In...both of those lines were in use by millions of people and appeared in lots of other media.

Here's the list grabbed off the Internet:

        Top 50 comedy catchphrases
        50. “Hello, Newman” from “Seinfeld”
        49. “Missed it by that much” from “Get Smart”
        48. “Yeah, that’s the ticket” from “Saturday Night Live”
        47. “God’ll get you for that” from “Maude”
        46. “Hey, Hey, Hey” from “What’s Happening”
        45. “Holy crap” from “Everybody Loves Raymond”
        44. “Let me show you something” from “In Living Color”
        43. “Nip it” from “The Andy Griffith Show”

I guess it's cool for me cause i'm a huge Friends fanatic. You hear the "How you doin' " a lot more then the "We were on a break"

they should've had the "Whoa!" from Joey Lawrence on blossom

and Holy crap should've been top 20

                    Agreed!
I laugh out loud just picturing that scene in my head!

                    Not to mention:

"Hi, Bob!" -everybody on the Bob Newhart Show

"Good night, and have a pleasant tomorrow!"- Chevy Chase SNL

"DYNOMITE!" - J.J. Walker Good Times

"Lookin' Good!" -Chico & the Man

"Thank you, Thing!" - Addams Family

"Marcia, Marcia, Marcia!" - Jan Brady

The list was generally lousy (my opinion) but noted that despite having 3 different Seinfeld quotes, it didn't have my favorite: the whole "spongeworthy" bit was hysterical.

Yes, but the Sci-Fi genre ones weren't even close.. It was:

                        3) Twilight Zone's intro
                        2) X-Files "Trust No One"
                        1) Trek's 'Beam Us Up"

I agree with the last one, but what, no 'Danger Will Robinson'...??

Granted, I like Trek much more, but you always hear A LOT more people uttering that catch phrase much more than, say, 'Trust No One'...

Other than that, the over all list was a bit off, but still made for entertaining watching. The most important part was the cast interviews about the times and how the phrases came about, etc... Especially with 'Laugh In' and Richard Nixon's appearance generally helping his election campaign back in '68.

                        "Sock it to ME..???"

I don't know why they bother with these lists. I mean really,do you even hear people quote half of them? I've got one for them that didn't make the list from The Simpsons. Worst Episode Ever.

I always loved that bit. And Mary Frann in those sweaters always did my 13 year old heart a bit of good.
