How about television programming in general? The Wizard of Oz was shown once a year, just like your standard Christmas shows. There were no VHS copies to be had. If it was on and you were out doing something, you missed it until next year.Comment

Only in the 70's when programming was preempted during prime time would they neglect what was left of your original programming and inject an episode of Ultraman to cover the last 20 minutes for that time slot. The good ole days!

I remember when everyone in school tried to sneak and stay up to watch SNL.
It was strictly taboo which made everyone want to watch it even more...

I remember how cool it was to watch the HBO commercial pan over the model town. I remember a show about them building it.

Family vacations. The entertainment consisted mostly of board games and whatever toys my cousin and I brought. TV? IF the TV worked at whatever house was rented for that particular trip it was a bonus.Comment

Waiting in long lines to see movies like Star Wars.
Tv actually had some cool stuff on, some of those great movies of the week that were Horror movies, Kiss Meets the Phantom of the park.
Being up at the asscrack of dawn on saturdaymorning to watch cartoons.
Halloween seemed like a bigger deal then than it does now, every house on the block went all out for it and it seemd there were tons of kids with mom or dad in tow all in the streets.

Summer vacations did seem to last forever. Can you even remember the last time you could forget what day of the week it was, even what month it was. Summer was just summer.
Yeah being able to sleep in but getting up at the *** crack of dawn to watch cartoons anyway..... Not being tied to an alarm clock.
