    Question for my English friends

My wife is going to London next month and I was wondering if they use euros as well as pounds for currency. We need to know what to buy. She will also be going to France so we still need to buy pounds.

Hi, some places here will use euros like the airports and selected hotels. I'm not sure if a lot of shops will so you'd be better off getting pounds for the english part of the trip. The euros will be best for france.

I can confirm that. The UK is not big on the Euro like they are in Mainland Europe.

I would get English Pounds for the UK leg of your trip.

I think you can buy a travelers card that works for all taxi's, buses and subways in England.

My travel agent told me that once.

          Pounds for the UK.
          Euros for France.
Some of the newer European Community members still accepts goats, I think.

Personally, I'd like to return to Belgian Franks....

I would take just a small amount of Pounds Sterling and Euros. I was in both countries about 10 years ago and you could walk up to an ATM machine and use your bank card to withdraw whatever you needed there and it would give you a fair conversion.

Don't ever use the currency conversion places at the airports. They charge about a 15%premium on the conversion.
