I used to collect when I was a kid in the '70's and bought some packs in the '90's when my older son was young.

I lost interest when the hobby became filled with so many different brands, chase cards, autographed cards, and all kinds of other gimmicks to entice you to buy.

I finally threw up my hands and gave up. I have tons of cards packed away somewhere and probably haven't looked at them in a decade.

I have all of my "good"cards. I dumped the rest of my attempts at completing sets from the 70s and 80s. I'm still a sucker for an old card and really enjoy seeing the common ones I had oodles of, just to take me back in time

That is also kind of the way I felt as well. Too many sets, sub sets, special editions and other crap to keep up with. That is why I like Mego's. So far at least what has been made is it and will be it.

1984 and 1985 were good years for collecting. I bought a s-load of them back in the days. Wax packs, rack packs, cellos and complete sets. Somewhere???? I have the McGwire, Clemens, Puckett and all of those really good rookies of that time. I have not seen a Beckett in a very long time. I used to buy Tuff Stuff as well. I have not seen either price guide in a very long time. I am pretty sure that the values are no where near what they were at that given time. 1984 Mattingly's and Strawberry rookies were hot once upon a time. I was buying some on eBay a good while back just because they were so inexpensive. They were going for next to nothing compared to what they were going for once upon a time. It is still nice to hold on to them for the memories I agree Nayrbgo. I think it is funny to see McGwire as a rookie pip squeak and then within a couple of years the guy looks like a body builder and he is hitting homers left and right. BUT of course he did not use steroids. LOL!!!
