I could be wrong, but I very seriously and personally find that hard to believe. I could see the travel and border measures as having no effect due to the dumb aces that keep travelling back and forth knowing the whole time that there is at least a potential risk involved. No one ever thinks that it could happen to them. It really aggitates me of their poor choices being made. Not only are they putting their lives in danger, but others just as well.

Most of my family on my fathers side died of the influenza of 1918 in New Jersey.

My grandparents (my fathers parents) were buried in a mass unmarked grave at the local cemetary.

Old timers told me there's hundreds of people buried there.

    Scary stuff

I don't believe anything that the WHO has to say. They're as crooked as Ice Dance Judges at an Olympic Event.

Experts still looking for origin of outbreak

See what I mean? It's already been genetically linked to the Spanish Flu from 1918. And where did they discover that came from?

Can you say Guang Dong Province?.

If the suggestion that people who are not citizens sneaking through unsecure borders might just carry a deadly flu might is political, sorry I'm out of it. I have no further opinion in the matter.

But as I said before, Ellis Island had a quarantine section to keep nasty diseases out.

And that is no way any put down to the people of Mexico. I just hope a pandemic is not on the horizon.

    Awesome book!!!!!

You have a higher chance of getting killed on the way to the doctor to be checked for "Little Piggy Cold", than dying from it.

Ellis Island had a quarantine section before letting imigrants through. I guess we know more than they did.
if it is coming from there I say close it until things get better,to me it doesn't matter where it's from.It could be Cuba,Mexico,Canada,China I don't care.Where ever it's from close the thing

Why don't we just open the border to Mexico and not have any illegals passing through then. (You are comparing apples with stones.)

    Shades of the SARS crisis......

There was talk about travel bans from the US to Canada during the SARS episode, but NOBODY talked about closing the border to CHINA.

The World Health Organization blamed Canada for not containing the virus, all the while ignoring that the SARS virus. Came. To. Canada. On. A. Commercial. Flight. From. China.

    Exactly...

We're not talking Captain Tripps here.......I'm not scared -- I'm more pi$$ed off that Mexico is taking the blame for this. The last pandemic we had was SARS, and Canada got blamed for that. At the risk of sounding like a broken record, both SARS and SWINE FLU have their origins in CHINA. Avian Flu, Swine Flu... It's all the thame sam ding...

Now the World is talking about boycotting North American produced pork... They won't be boycotting Chinese products, or closing the borders to Chinese nationals. If you like pork, it's gonna be cheap for the next 6 months...

Yeah, 36,000 die from flu every year, I think? Hell, I've had flu that in retrospective
was probably pretty dangerous. Strange coincidence, last time I remember having really bad flu was the day of the Stones concert to benefit Toronto after SARS.
After having SARS right next door, it's hard to be worried, frankly.
Although, I don't know about the rest of you, but I can't help turning this whole situation into a horror movie in my head. Like, thinking of all the plot twists and variations. I realize this is real and people are dying, it's very sad. But I'll keep my Chuck Heston style safari jacket handy just in case.
