Had all the books and modules. Never played it but always wanted to. WISH that some toy company would make figures of the Monsters from the Monster Manuel number one. Those monsters ruled!

The NBC show Community has an old-school D&D plotline tonite:

      Community - Game On - Video - NBC.com

Should be good for some grins..

That's 2.0! Therefore, not "old school."

Young whippersnappers! If it 'aint the old "white box" set it's not real D&D! Well.... maybe the "blue book." Or Red set if you MUST....

I played a little bit but found it boring for me at least. I also loved Risk and although I haven't played Axis and Allies; I have done all nighters with a similar game called Conquest of the Empire. That game can become downright addictive especially if you get about 6 people playing at once. Actually, a few months ago, I was with my 10 year old at a used book store and he found the old D&D monsters book. He thought it was neat looking and I let him buy it (it was $1). He has looked through it and I have given him a general idea of how to play the game.
