When I was a kid, I wanted to be a paleontologist. You couldn't have pried me away from a dinosaur book or movie in those days. I've never been sure why I lost interest in that, but by jr. high it had faded away.

Early Elementary School, I wanted to be a police officer or fireman (who didn't).
At the age of 10, I wanted to play for the Washington Redskins so bad, that I literally packed up a few clothes, my replica Redskins football helmet and decided I was going to walk to RFK Stadium (Probably 40 miles from my house). I thought for sure they would never turn down a die hard fan like me. I made it to the end of my road before turning back.
In High School, I wanted to be a Physician. I liked the idea of helping sick people and making lot's of money. I enrolled in an anatomy and physiology class and after trying to memorize every bone and muscle in the body, quickly realized it wasn't my calling.
I finally decided I was going to be a stock analyst with a brokerage house and pursued a finance degree in college. I started dating my wife my sophomore year and she made it very clear that if there was going to be any future between us; she would not be moving to New York. I ended up getting a job in Accounting, completed a 2nd degree and passed the CPA exam.
I have no regrets and really like the profession. I still study and invest in stocks since it is an interest of mine and the combination of the finance and accounting background has helped a lot in this area.

I wanted to be a superhero. I thought it was a legitimate occupation when I was too young to realise that those kinds of "heroes" don't actually exist! I also always wanted to be some kind of performer, preferably a musician. Obviously my fixation on superheroes and musicians could explain my instant attraction to KISS, as they seemed like the whole package!
I am now a professional musician who travels internationally, and while it has turned out to be very different than how I'd imagined it would be when I was younger, this is basically what I always wanted to do so I can't really complain.
I also had some dreams of being a comic artist or something of that sort. I used to draw ALOT even up through my teens, but I wasn't particularly great at it and music wound up being far more of a priority.
One thing I kinda wish I had thought more seriously about as a kid is becoming a writer/journalist. I've always had a knack for writing, I love reading and researching subjects, and did quite well in these areas back in school. But I never pursued it any further and now I wish I would've, as I often daydream about being able to write for magazines or even write biographies and such.
Dang,....astronaut, fireman, superhero, police officer; everyone had such lofty ambitions. What did little Rally want to be? I really wanted to be a garbage collector!
Before you laugh, this was before sanitary landfills and back in the days of local dumps where one could actually pick thru the piles and come home with "good" stuff. It was an exciting day at our house when Dad announced a trip to the dump.
Upon viewing my current "treasure trove" of toys, dolls, and misc ugly stuff from the 1970's, some might say that I have actually realized my childhood dream! LOL
I always wanted to be a Fire Fighter/Paramedic. This was entirely because of the TV show "Emergency!" We had to visit every Fire Station, too, when I was a kid. Sometimes, we even did this while on vacation. Once, one of the Fire Captain's in Evansville let me slide down the fire pole. That was really cool.
I became a Paramedic and did that for a few years. I'm really glad that I lived that dream.
