Oh...I had some many dreams...from the traditional Air Force pilot/Astronaut thing (until I found out that I was terrified of heights, did not like math, and got too big), professional soccer player (until I got too big), pro football player (too small back then, the opposite of soccer, lol), pro boxer (until I found out I didn't like training much or getting hit on the nose), to yes, a film director (I did take film classes at San Francisco State, but nothing came out of that).
The closest I came to one of the things I really liked was to become a zoologist...I was really into it...I took two years of classes towards a degree on that...but ultimately I went the liberal arts route, because I loved that aspect just as much.
I did ultimately put my wildlife background to use when I voluntered for the Oakland Zoo for many years...while I found the work rewarding...it was also very physical...a lot of hard work...and the pay was not that great either.
I wanted to be an Ambulance guy,I remember when they came to kindergarten and used their scissors to cut a penny in half. That was it for me it looked so cool.
I practiced para-medicine(ambulance guy) for five years and then moved on to other stuff. It was the greatest time of my life and the most insane. They never really prepare you for what you will deal with in real life and how to carry it with you after that.
After my divorce I stopped doing this.
But dreams can come true I know that for sure!!!
Next I wanted to be a great Dad,I'll never know how I did until the kids are grown up and give me some feedback...
It's never too late people;the dream never dies just the dreamer.I believe this with all my heart.
“When you say “It’s hard”, it actually means “I’m not strong enough to fight for it”. Stop saying its hard. Think positive!”
I wanted to be a comic book artist, up until I smoked my first joint. Went on to become a full blown drug addict for about 15 years. Today I am clean and sober and on Sept 30 it will be 17 years drug and alcohol free. Now I sell custom figures.
Wow. We got a lot more in common then I thought. I am going on 3 years now for me. I am not selling my customs but I am making them. Kudos to you for 17 years! I thought three was a milestone for me! I don't have nothing on you.
More custom Mego madness on Facebook right here...

I kinda ended up in a weird position: I didn't want to be a cartoonist, but I ended up with story and "comic" was the overall best way to do it. And I worked on it A LOT, but it never went anywhere. And I burned out.
About a year ago some of the old crowd started pushing me to do it again, which I've been humming and hawing about. It's tough to really get into it again 'cos I KNOW it isn't gonna go anywhere; but it still feels like something that NEEDS to be done. Sometimes when I look at the characters, stories and such it seems like a shame nothing ever came of it:
....and sometimes it seems like I got a weird boob fixation....
