Actually ABBA was bigger than either one of those, if going by record sales. They were in the Guinness Book of World Records for the longest time.

You're one of my favorite Dudes on here, but I have to disagree with you on this.
Aloha From Hawaii was one of the biggest TV events ever and was seen by over a Billion people.

I wouldn't consider POTA's or Elvis as 70's icons. I know there were some POTA movies, but just spin offs of the 68 movie.

In the 70's, Elvis was basically washed up Vegas act that people saw when he toured to relive to 50's & 60's, like we do now with KISS and bands from the 80's.

Not in the top ten, but worth a mention:

    Charo

She seemed to be everywhere in the 70s, probably because you couldn't help but notice her.

Even though I bumped them for Elvis, in defense of The Super Friends....they pretty much defined what most people "on the street" automatically think of when you say DC Super-Heroes or Justice League: Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Robin.

(even though the JLA part is inaccurate with Robin)

And even though it's actually a negative thing, it enforced in people's minds the "lameness" of Aquaman.
