the rule about no inanimate objects really put a stranglehold on this for me. To me, when i pick something for this list it has to immediately scream: "70's" to me or it doesn't fit the icon status.
I mean who wouldn't pick bellbottoms or disco for that list otherwise?
I couldn't really come up with 10 that screamed 70's to me but I think the few I listed here do fill the bill.

    Farrah
    Bee Gees
    ABBA
    Brady Bunch
    Nixon
    Evel Knievel
    Sonny & Cher

    Wasn't DELIVERANCE a hit in the 70s?

Nemozoe...I do love Jaws, don't get me wrong...a true iconic 70s classic.

Check out the trailer for Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer (made from a miniscule budget of only $110,000)...

YouTube - Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer (1986) Trailer

It is one of the most realistic chilling movies ever made...

    Based on this nice fella...

You are cool...it's nice to disagree in a civil manner.

Hey...you might be right, and I might be wrong...what do I know.

P.S. I can think of 20 more realistic horror flicks than Jaws. But do we really wanna go there?

I'm sure you realize that Surfers get attacked quite often on the west coast by GWs. I really don't see any other horror movies being anywhere near realistic or factual. For instance a dead dude wearing a hockey mask who gets killed by some teeny bopper girl time and time again...yeah right. Is there a horror movie you can think of that even comes close to being realistic? Let me know because I'm seriously drawing a blank.
I'm sorry, but humans terrify me more than wildlife...ten times fold actually.

Besides...the daddy in the oceans is not the great white...that title belongs to the wolf of the sea...the orca aka killer whale...a much more massive apex predator, a much faster swimmer...and of course...a thousand times smarter.

I didn't want to point things out...but Anthony said...prepare to defend your picks.

I gotta say only one mention of The Godfather is a bit surprising, given the careers it launched and/or resurrected. Plus, it sparked much imitation and launched at least one Pizza Chain that still exists.

I still see commercials based on the premise. "An offer you can't refuse." and all.

Yup! That's one of the reason I picked it....in addition to that iconic cello music and the iconic poster image of the shark swimming up to eat the naked chick. Something about the whole thing says "70s" to me. Not to mention the fact that the whole shark phenomenon crossed over into another on my Top 10 when the Fonz jumped the shark. Doesn't get any cooler than that. Aaaaaaaaay!
