I got it a few days after it came out. It's a good record but the early songs they showcased before the album's release turned out to be all of the best ones, so I was a little disappointed. With this kind of lineup I was expecting a few classics but got instead just a good jam session. Not a bad record, but not a classic one either. It debut at number four on the Billboard charts and has dropped pretty fast, which I hate (probably end up gold instead of platinum in sales). But I think people had a different expectation. This band had a golden opportunity to milk both the Hagar and the Van Halen audience, but missed the mark. For me it's still Sammy, so it's a keeper, just not the classic I was expecting. I loved the packaging with the heat signature film overtop that lightens when you touch it. Very cool. Hopefully they'll give this band one more shot and take their time on the next record.

That whole jam session vibe has kinda become what Sammy has been about in recent years. He really is more about the fun aspect more than trying to sell records. The whole money thing was the issues with Van Halen/Hagar. He wanted to do new stuff and just create rather than do a Greatest Hits album just to make cash. I think these guys are past the need to make money in music anymore and simply wanna do what got em into music in the first place, just playing music and having fun. Think about the Waboritas. Simply a fun group to listen to. Drunk or not you have to sing along when "Mas Tequila" comes on. I believe they would have milked the whole VH vibe if making money was the target. I just think they're past that at this point in their careers. Considering this album would be more accepted by mainstream Hagar/VH fans and probably not by today's younger market preference, I would consider going gold an accomplishment. I really don't see it appealing to the current, younger, mass market which is much more pop/r&b based. Hagar's fans will appreciate this album but I don't see it adding new members to the fan base. Though when you consider that any of the bands on VH1's "Where are they now?" didn't start in the music industry until 10 - 15 years after these guys were already accomplished musicians, putting out a gold album would be a pretty good accomplishment IMO. Seeing he's 60+, and still rocking hard, I doubt you'll ever see Sammy on that show.
It's not a doll it's an action figure.

Well yeah,I see what you mean. But I guess it really was more about having fun and yeah just fun rocking jamming! I too was hoping for a bunch of hits from this CD, but i still feel its Solid Rock, solid work! Maybe, just maybe they will change it up on the 2nd CD, problem is, with their age, I doubt we will see a new album for many years.
