Huge Hagar fan. This sound has a lot of classic Red Rocker vibe to it. It's a pretty impressive band as well. Joe Satriani and Michael Anthony are as good a guitar playing duo as you can get. Not a huge Peppers fan but Smith sounds like he's made the switch from alternative to rock pretty easily. When I bought Jay's Capn Eli novels on amazon I needed more to qualify for the free shipping and ended up grabbing Sammy's essential red CD. It quickly became one of my favorites. It spans virtually his entire career starting with one of his first hits "Bad Motor Scooter" right through the final track "Mas Tequila" which has become a staple song at his Cabo Wabo bar in Mexico, based on the success of his tequila brand of the same name. Not surprised to see him touring again since he sold majority share in the company a year or so ago, (sold 80% of the company for $80 million). I've seen him 4 or 5 times and you can tell this guy simply loves to perform. I've never seen a bad show. You never know what he'll sing. Might have to catch his show in Cambridge if I can.
It's not a doll it's an action figure.

WOW!!! Thanks for the link toysrus. I'm a huge Sammy fan (how could anyone guess, right?) and I didn't know anything about this. Awesome sound. I can't wait for product. My best friend has always been a fan of Sammys, but is a huge fan of Joe Santriani so he's going to freak when he hears this. I AM PUMPED!!!

Your very welcome! I listened to the new tunes a few times, good stuff, yet i expected a bit harder/heavier. But when it comes out, i'll pick it up.

I was playing "Oh Yeah" to my best friend in Chicago last night over the phone and we were both proclaiming afterwards...OH YEAH! I am so ready for this new album. I predict platinum sales for this CD. You have scores of Sammy fans; you have tons of frustrated Van Halen fans; and you have the nonstop allegiance of Santriani fans. This record will be huge. Michael Anthony's back harmonies and bass contributions were incredible. I've been missing those since Van Halen slipped off the deep end. We have found, in my eyes, a suitable replacement.

Your right, I agree! I cant wait to hear Michael Anthony on this cd. This is one hell of a supergroup, sales should be great! I havent read much about a tour, but i'm sure a nice tour will follow.

You'll have to give us a concert report afterwards! I'm down in Louisville, so I'll have to wait for the album tour before they get here. This appears to be all pre-promo stuff which I think is working great. I haven't been this pumped for a new band in a long, long, time.

Well I went to the show Friday night here in Chicago. WOW!!!! Great from beginning to end. They played the whole album start to finish and added Bad Motor Scooter and Highway Star. Sammy still sounds awesome and has the energy of a 20 yr old. Satriani never fails to blow me away, amazing talent. Chad Smith was a madman, his family was at the show too, they sat right behind us. Mike Anthony is always great. All in all I will highly reccomend seeing this band. I know they are going overseas next but he said they will be back in the fall. Buy the CD in June and then go to the show when they come thru your town, you will not regret it.

Thanks for the report and I'm glad to hear they put on a good show. When I was younger, I was a DLR fan, but I still thought of them as "Van Halen" with Sammy. Now, that they booted Anthony, they will never be Van Halen to me, again. I'd much rather see a Sammy/Mike lineup, anyway.

I liked Sammy as Sammy, I hated the Van Hagar. I might go see them if they are close and the tickets are cheap. DLR Van-Halen is what it's all about, 79-84 and '07+.
