I've got one of those at work, too. Likes to find ways that they think I am not doing my job. Pretty sure the person is under the impression that they can do a better job that I do and wants my position.

I am about 85% sure I know who said it.
I thought it was kind of odd that the CFO brought it to my attention last evening especially since I had not received a personal package in about a month and he isn't one to just hold onto information and pass it along at some point in the future.
He also said the information was given to him by someone whose opinion didn't matter much to him, he didn't notice any problem (his office is right beside mine), but I also know that public perception is very important to him and mentioned that he would want to know if someone for example said something about him to me. People have said negative things to me about him but I have decided not to say a word because I think it is petty and really don't see the necessity of repeating it to him as I don't see it serving any positive purpose.
He also had his facts wrong in the way mail flows through our company. Nothing coming to our corporate headquarters goes through our Distribution Center unless it is UPS or FedEx. 95% of everything I receive comes through UPS and is delivered right to our front door reception desk. If I receive a package, they set it aside and give me a call to tell me there is a package for me. It doesn't go through a mail room or anything. I know the Executive Admin. very well who also supervises the receptionists and told her that I occassionally receive a personal package here since there is no one home during the day and wanted to know if it was causing a problem with anyone so if it was creating any type of problems and if it was; I would have any future personal items sent to my home address. Her answer was an emphatic no and that many employees receive personal packages here for the same reason as me.
I believe the whole instigator of this problem is a Sr. Staff Accountant who reports to me. She has been very antagonistic toward me since the day I started (almost 4 years ago). She is passive aggressive towards me and will go out of her way to ignore or avoid me (including emails). She works pretty closely with the CFO on various projects and takes every opportunity to bypass me as though she doesn't report to me.
To make a long story short, I have tried to have a few civil conversations with her about this behavior over the years and she will tell me to my face that it is unintentional and apologizes if it comes across any differently but after a few days goes back into passive aggressive mode.
She is leaving the company next week to be closer to her family (she just had a baby) and they live in Wisconsin but is going to do some work for us remotely until we can find a replacement and have the work load transitioned. I found a replacement very quickly (not too hard in this economy) and I think she realizes that her job will soon be coming to an end here. I noticed she has taken the opportunity to take a couple of pot shots at me (she will snort something out loud about an email I sent her even though she sits about 20 yards from me).
I can't prove without a doubt that it is her but she is the most likely suspect. She is the one person I could see doing it and is comfortable enough with the CFO to approach him about it to try to kick me in the groin a few times before she leaves. She will use the CFO as a reference for a future job search so she really has nothing to lose at this point.
She is a really bad apple in our department and will be glad to see her leave. I have been doing my best to continue to take the high road no matter what she does and let her look like the fool."The farther we go, the more the ultimate explanation recedes from us, and all we have left is faith."

That makes sense. The only other people involved are the boss himself and the person working the front desk, neither of which would even take notice, or if they did be bothered by something that you pick up on your own.

Especially one who hasn't particularly gotten along with me over the couse of our time together and really has nothing to lose by throwing as much mud as she walks out the door."The farther we go, the more the ultimate explanation recedes from us, and all we have left is faith."

Good for you for not stooping to her level. You're of course the better person for it. I know things like that are never easy to do though, so stick to your guns and let it go.
And when she leaves you can say to her under your breath "Good Bye, Won't Miss Ya"!MY GODS ARE SMALL...... AND PLASTIC!

I shouldnt post this...I get sinister at night....If I were you, and knew it was this person for a fact, I would get some completely humiliating and emberassing item, and package it in such a way that the contents are still in full display (ie--the item needs to be in a very descriptive package, with a good large picture of the item on it). Then have a buddy drop it off at the front desk, pretending to be a courier. This works best if the guy can keep a straight face....then you can have him ask for her to be called to the front to sign for it, and then he can make a stink about how "Joes Courier" normally wouldnt deliver a sicko item like this, but had to since there was no return address.
....Or....you could just take the high road, and move on.....which is the right thing to do, but isnt nearly as much fun."Crayons taste like purple!"Comment

I am just going to let it go.
Considering he is the CFO and I'm right below him in the chain of command; it would take a pretty bold person to walk in there and say something so petty and ridiculous. She is leaving the company in a couple of days and I guess decided she'd burn her bridges on her way out.
Kharma always has a way of working itself out. Again, I'm not 100% sure it is her but I'd bet money on it considering the way she has treated me since I started working here. I think she wanted my position before I started but the CFO didn't feel she had the right skill set so she has given me an attitude since day one without any particular reason.
Now she has the nerve to ask if I would be a reference for her. I am being professional about it and have told her I would (I don't think she thought about the need for a reference until recently). I don't plan on speaking negatively about her as that is not my m.o. but any potential employer will receive very neutral responses from me which will allow them to read between the lines or draw their own conclusions since most people who are asked to give references always sing the highest praises."The farther we go, the more the ultimate explanation recedes from us, and all we have left is faith."

I had that problem too.
My casting supplies are sent by courier and the drivers won't leave them in my porch and getting a re-delivery is difficult, so i had to get them sent to my work address. I also had a few ebay wins ( heads, loose figures etc. ) delivered by royal mail. As i was in charge of goods in, everything came to me to be processed so it wasn't a problem. Then we had a new supervisor start and she started moaning about my having stuff delivered to work, i explained to the boss and he didn't mind.
She was sacked after a couple of months then i was moved to a different area, as they wanted everyone to have experience of doing goods in, after that they made my life very difficult about having stuff delivered.
I wasn't the only one who had personal stuff delivered there, yet no-one else was told to stop doing it." But you can't kill me, i'm a Genius "Comment
