The worst thing we used to have once a month ...
A hotdog, slit down the middle suffed with cheddar cheese and wrapped with a slice of bacon.
It sounds good, but if you ever ate one you'd taste how disgusting it was.
Made me throw up on the bus on the way home.
I never ate it againComment

Oh i have that topped as far as worst goes. They would print out the lunch menu's on a bi weekly schedule and at least once it would say chefs surprise. oh man you want to talk about being scarred to go into the lunch room.Comment

It would be "kind of" neat if someone had kept a vintage menu printout since we are on the topic and all. Anyone? Anyone?Enjoy what you like, and let others enjoy what they like. (C) Azrak 2009

I just checked to find out about school lunches and was surprised to find out that they are $1.85 here in Maryland. Keep in mind that it is Middle School lunch and the portions are smaller but my kids said they receive one main item (pizza, burger, etc.), a fruit or vegetable, and a milk. You can purchase other items seperately but that seems pretty low. My vague memory was that lunch was about $.85 or so when I was in Elementary/Middle School so it really isn't that much more comparatively speaking and I'm sure the quality can't be any worse."The farther we go, the more the ultimate explanation recedes from us, and all we have left is faith."

Really? A school lunch here is up to $3, I believe."Do you believe, you believe in magic?

I had NEVER heard of putting mayonnaise on a HAMBURGER till I moved to AZ. I was at a Sonic and ordered a hamburger and they asked me if I wanted that with or without mayo and I was like, "Who the hell puts mayo on a hamburger?!"
Gotta be a west coast thing? UGH!

That menu is hilarious. I think between the mention of Sloppy Joes and the menu above with grinders (which we call subs down in Maryland)...I am thinking of the classic SNL Lunch Lady skit with Chris Farley and Adam Sandler.
Gotta love the mimeograph print. That was basically our equivalent of the xerox machine. I can still remember the addictive scents of fresh mimeograph ink."The farther we go, the more the ultimate explanation recedes from us, and all we have left is faith."
