BJ and the Bear & Sheriff Lobo: Does Anybody Remember These Two Shows?

I came across these two old favorite shows of mine on youtube. I used to enjoy watching them when I was a kid and I really wish they would air on some cable channel or be released on DVD. Some may say that they are rip offs of the Dukes of Hazzard, but they still had their own charm.

I met Greg Evigan a few years ago when I went on a cruise hosted by him and Lou Ferrigno. I enjoyed his performance and got a kick out of the chimp named Bear. And Judy Landers and those other lady truckers helped me get through puberty since I was roughly 11 or 12 when I saw this show.

I loved Sheriff Lobo even more. A somewhat honest, yet somewhat crooked sheriff who was not above making a dishonest buck. Deputy Perkins was funny as hell. He was like a stupid, fat, bald version of Barney Fife, and I always wanted to be like Birdie. He got the girls. And if I'm not mistaken, Heather Thomas appeared on both of these shows before she did the Fall Guy.

Anyway, I was wondering if any body remembers these two shows?

    Cheers.

I never seen either show more then about 10 minutes.

To me, they seemed Dukes of Hazzard-ish and it turned me off.

    Hard to explain

I was a fan of both, probably more of Lobo as well, for some odd reason. I remember watching BJ and the Bear, then Love Boat and capping the night off with Fantasy Island. I don't know if it aired in the US like this but it did in Canada.

When I was in Europe a few years ago, I watched an entire episode of Sheriff Lobo in German. It was followed by Misfits of Science, I felt like I was in televisions weird graveyard.

I used to watch them both. Funny how they turned Claude Aiken's character Lobo and his side kick Perkins into good guys after being bad cops in BJ and the bear.

Now which came first here? I haven't looked it up but I was thinking BJ and the Bear and Sheriff Lobo was out prior to the Dukes. Or if not, at least the same time.

Either way, BJ and Lobo reminded me much more of

        THIS

        than the Dukes of Hazzard.

I always liked both shows! I think Misadventures of Sheriff Lobo comes on the Retro Channel in some places (or at least that's what thier site says) but sadly not where I live or else I'd be watching me some Deputy Birdy Hawkins! .

I used to love B.J. and the Bear...It's funny you bring it up cuz the other day I found 2 puzzles in a box. 1 was B.j. and the Bear the other was Bigfoot and Wildboy.

Yeah, BJ came out before Dukes.

BJ was ok, but when they retooled the show it became a big old pile of messed up! Same with Lobo, I liked it when he was a small town sheriff, then they tried to go all McCloud with it and ruined it.

Claude never seemed to have good luck with tv shows...I loved Movin' On (in which he starred as the famous trucker Sonny Pruitt), which was another trucking show that came out a year or so before BJ and the Bear, but it too was killed quick.

I used to watch BJ & the Bear all the time but I don't remember watching Sherriff Lobo. I must've seen it at least once, though. Likely it was on opposite something else I liked better.
