Now which came first here? I haven't looked it up but I was thinking BJ and the Bear and Sheriff Lobo was out prior to the Dukes. Or if not, at least the same time.

Either way, BJ and Lobo reminded me much more of

    THIS

    than the Dukes of Hazzard.
Actually, according to my research, BJ and the Bear started off as a pilot movie in 1978. It aired October 4. The movie introduced Sheriff Lobo and Deputy Perkins and they were more corrupt in this movie than in their upcoming series. BJ and the Bear started as a TV series in February, just one or two weeks after the Dukes of Hazzard debuted on CBS on January 26, 1979 Sheriff Lobo was spun off onto his own series that fall in September 1979.

BJ and the Bear technically was there before the Dukes. But Sheriff Lobo was more an imitator of the Dukes when it comes to the similarities between Lobo/Boss Hogg Perkins/Rosco. Birdie had the honesty and integrity of Enos Strate, but he had the appeal that the Duke Boys had. I agree that they ruined what could have been a good second season. Sending Lobo and his two deputies to Atlanta would have been fine for one episode, but not the whole season. That pretty much killed it.

I've heard of the truck driving show, Movin On. I've got the theme on CD, but I've never seen the series.

    Cheers.
