Ok. Orphans! Listen to Ignacio. I know it is fun to wrestle. A nice piledrive to the face... or a punch to the face... but you cannot do it. Because, it is in the Bible not to wrestle your neighbour.

I feel your pain. I was laid off after 17 years. Hurt like hell after all the time, energy and late nights I put in. I felt very betrade. Said it was due to lack of work.

Got another job and was laid off AGAIN after 18 months. Same reason as before. Just sucked all the way around.

Sorry to hear this man.......I'm new here, but you were cool with me from the start. I read something from someone the other daya: Refuse to participate in the recession.

So in your case, refuse to be unemployed. Start a business think about new ways that old talents can land you a new job that you hadn't considered before. Remember: Even if there's 10 % unemployment, that means there's 90% employment.

Good Luck, At my place of employment, job security is working one week to the next. I guess, I am lucky, I'm a company man that long ago has sacrificed a family life for the good of the company. I'm cross trained in the plant, long time member of safety commitee, confine space trained to do the disgusting jobs no one else wants to do.

Hang in there. You'll find something. There's a company somewhere looking for someone who can produce and they'll pay for that person. You just gotta find them.
Oh man, that sucks, so sorry to hear about it. But sadly Dave is right. Companies tend to think that if they get rid of the people with the high salaries that their problems will be over. They seem to forget that with the salary the talent is also gone and they're left will talentless and unmotivated people... try running a business with those.

Terrible news that I hear every day. Hang in there... who knows, they may call you back up if the economy picks back up or if they get a decent contract in as a result of the stimulus.

Aww man that stinks. Seems like everyone knows someone or heard of someone who is being let go due to this economy. It's leading people to see their companies restructure and cut back. My co was no different a few weeks back , on a Monday no less, several people were ushered out of the building at 10 am . Apparantly cost cutting they decided to Eliminate 100 or so jobs nation wide. Sorry to hear that man, Hope you can get back up on your feet soon. The best thing to do is stay positive, and proactive now. We are all friends on this board , and I know I would always be hear to listen and comment if someone needed.
