Dude I am really sorry to hear that.
Hold tight, given your qualifications I'm sure something better is just around the corner.
Sometimes an unintentional step backwards is actually a slingshot ahead.
The same thing happened to me two years ago and now I make way more money and have twice as much time off....
Go figure.
You are right though that is a B.S. play on there part.“When you say “It’s hard”, it actually means “I’m not strong enough to fight for it”. Stop saying its hard. Think positive!”Comment

Wow, that sucks. Companies seem to unload people that have been around a long time because those people tend to have more benefits or make more money. Sometimes they forget the big picture and get rid of those that make them the money just to unload salary. It's a weird world.
Hang in there. You'll find something. There's a company somewhere looking for someone who can produce and they'll pay for that person. You just gotta find them.Comment

Sorry to hear that, Anderson. I only recently went though the whole ordeal myself.
Had to shut down the store I was manager of for 5 years. I got lucky and was hired as manager of the company who bought it. I didn't even know I had a job with them till 1 day before our doors closed.
In your life, especially in this economy, change is inevitable. Change isn't always a bad thing though. Sometimes it gives you the time to really focus on what you want to do with your life.
The unfortunate thing is that as long as we all work for someone else, we are at their mercy.Comment

I recommend 2 books to read. Both are by Dan Miller. 48 Days to the Work you Love, and No More Mondays. It helps put work in a whole new light and makes you think about what you really want to do.
Think B.A. Where did you hide the Megos?Comment

Terrible news! It's happening more and more and like Dave said the companies doing this are not seeing the big picture. I'm sure they'll miss a guy like you only after it's too late. Hang in there and I hope in the end it all works out to your benefit.Comment

It only is going to get worse. There are many people getting laid off all over. Jobs are going under. We are heading for something horrible. Don't feel bad, you join a community of people who are laid off. It was nothing you did.
In 2002, my place of business after 10 years of duty there decided to move to West Virginia because it was easier to start over and hire new people at cheaper wages. I got a nice sum severance pay but it still don't beat having full dental and health like I did back then.
They did me a favor though. I was able to go to school and advance to a computer technician and start my own business. At the time it was a nightmare being cut loose but I think everything happens for a reason. I am happier working for myself!!Last edited by Cosmicman; Mar 15, '09, 9:12 PM.More custom Mego madness on Facebook right here...

Truly sorry to hear this man. I lost my job a year after buying my house about 10 years ago and didn't know what I was going to do. 3 young kids. Things will work out. There is something out there, maybe in a field you're not even in. Just gotta believe it's there. It's not a doll it's an action figure.Comment

I thank you all......I thought of a way for all of us to get rich...and that is we should write and publish a motivational book based on the ZEN OF MEGO AND IT'S COLLECTORS ! I'm not even trying to be funny....some of the things you guy's have said to me in the past hour have hit home more than other people have had to say....even though the only other person that knows is my wifebut for real......when did all the Mego people become so positive? It's a great thing and I thank you...especially the quote..."a step backward is a slingshot ahead." It's like when one door closes another one opens...Thanks guy's...and be sure to buy my comics and toy's when you see them a month from now
