What US President do you remember as a kid ?

When I was born Johnson was President.
The first one I remember was Nixon.
When I was in 1st grade we had an "election" in class and Nixon won. I remember "voting" for Nixon and being excited that my pick won.
I also remember my Grandmother telling me to "watch this; this is going to be important" when Nixon came on tv and resigned.
The first President I voted for when I was finally old enough to vote for real was Ronald Reagan in 1984.

Carter was in office when I was born...my 1st real memory of a president is Reagan. When I was in 3rd grade my class wrote him a letter and we were all sent pics of him riding a horse. I still have the picture somewhere.

2. 1st memory was Carter and I was also in the 3rd grade. My parents did not really talk politics or world events around our house so I really have no memory of the Vietnam war while it was taking place or Watergate.

We had to write a campaign slogan that combined Safety Rules and the President. My mom helped me come up with a clever slogan which ended up being a finalist for my school. A girl a grade or two below me came up with the exact same slogan (her older sister was in my class and plagerized mine). I don't think the principal wanted to accuse anyone of anything and suggested that he flip a coin on which of the two would be submitted.

Even at an early age, I was taught to stand up for myself so I protested the coin flip and suggested that my slogan had been plagarized. The principal gave me a choice of a coin flip or not submitting either (my choice) so I chose no submission.

The earliest I remember as in office was Jimmy Carter. I read about others in ComicBook.

LBJ when I was born

and my awareness started with Nixon and those Watergate hearings. I actually got to see Ford speak when he was President. And of course, I had an awareness of all the Presidents after.

Kennedy was President when I was born.

Nixon was probably the first President I actually understood who the President was...I remember watching him resign on my Nana's old B&W TV set.
Ford and Carter I think I remember more for their SNL parodies, since I would have been in high school then and that show was so huge then-more than you can imagine it now, even with the Sarah Palin stuff. I can remember having WIN buttons. Does anyone remember a tV show called Carter Country about rural cops in Plains, Ga.?

Reagan would have been the first President where I started to understand the issues..I remember to this day seeing him get shot. I can still recall the reporter asking some guy on the street what he saw and poor guy was so excited all he could say was "AMBA-LANCE PULLED UP AND THEY THROWED THE PRESIDENT IN!"

Nixon. I remember being annoyed at how all the Watergate stuff interrupted TV. They were always pre-empting cartoons and Batman or something for a special report. So Nixon was always a bummer to me. I remember Carter winning and my mother hating him. I remember Miss Lillian guest starring on Lucille Ball's sitcom. The 80 election was the first one I paid attention to. Couldn't vote til 88.

Ford/Carter. Really started to understand stuff around '76. It's weird how I paid more attention to the election than to the Bicentennial.

Nixon was President when I was born----I remember being in school
when Carter was President----the first president I remember knowing
was President. I remember being baffled that a Pres' term was 4 years long.
4 seemed like such a weird number.
