I'm with Paul. Under the circumstances, I'd give up the ball, too, possibly holding out for something like maybe my name mentioned in the museum display of the ball (like "Caught and donated by _").

Do you like money or do you like the team?

I am a LSU fanatic, so that makes the baseball very important to me.

Its not about the money because I wouldn't have sold it. I am just saying if LSU wanted the ball back from me, it would like a TON more than a signed ball.

Even after that, I would probably only give it to them on loan, not ask for anything.

They usually have a hidden mark that only they know about

I think baseball is the only sport where the ball becomes the property of whoever grabs it once it goes in the stands. I think you also assume all risks if you get beamed by one.

I have seen people try to keep footballs, soccer balls, etc. but they aren't allowed to be kept. I guess maybe it is because the whole idea behind baseball is to hit the ball into the stands as opposed to the other sports.

The only time we came close to catching a foul ball was at a minor league game years ago. My son wanted one so bad that he didn't understand that the chances of catching one are basically once in a lifetime opportunities.

Fortunately, I saw a batter who kept fouling the ball that was going up and over the stadium and into the parking lot. Just on a hunch, we left the game a little early and sure enough found 3 foul balls out in the lot.

You can keep the ball in the NFL if it lands in the stands, but that is very rare unless the player throws it up there.

I gotta go with the tiger on this one.....I would gladly give the ball back as long as my name was on the display having been the one to have donated it.

nope, unless a player hands it to you or throws it you have to return it.I've seen guys catch the field goals and they send a security guard to get it.Remember footballs are expensive. When a player hands you one he has to pay for it
