The worst thing I hated about the Warrior was his schtick.
Right when the 80's craze of EVERYTHING being futuristic warrior related was waning, Vince brings this guy in and trys to capitalize on a dying movie trend.
On top of that, Vince promotes him as sooooo great -- he even beats Hogan.
That was the last straw --- I (and the whole country) hated him even more after that.
He was one big bad decission on Vince's part.Last edited by Mikey; Feb 20, '09, 8:18 PM.Comment

i agree hart was the best wrestler. wcw didn't know how to market him though. hulk was a terrible wrestler but he was the biggest draw in the game for years. the ultimate warrior was as big as hogan for a few years, but didn't last as long cause he has little respect for the business and is not well liked be other wrestlers.Comment

I for one was happy as hell, best day ever in wrestling!!
Bret was good but no where near the best,he just lacked that persona that all the greats had.The best wrestlers all had their own identity,I'm not sure Bret ever found his.
Hulk-Greatest Hero in wrestling
Flair-best all around and one of the best bad guys ever
Warrior -Just one crazy huge *** guy
The Rock & Stone cold-Just 2 of the greatest entertainers ever
Shawn Michaels-Great athlete and probably the best ladies man in wrestling"Time to nut up or shut up"-Tallahassee

I liked Flair, but he really let me down (not his fault) when he came to WWF in the 80's for a short time.
The biggest wrestler in history (second only to Hogan) comes to the WWF and there's no fanfair and he's a just a mediocre secondary heal in lines with likes of IRS and other "throw away" heals.
That was a bad time for Flair.
I'm glad he didn't stay (back then)Comment

Michaels is the best in my opinion. Before his back injury he was the best athlete in the ring and coolest persona. His DX skits with HHH (second best ever IMO) were hilarious!!!!!
Hogan does/did the same boring routine in every match. I give him credit for being the biggest draw in wrestling history, but his abilities were never that great.Comment

It is a well Known Fact,.. That the Warrior couldn't Wrestle to save his Life. He had a look & his Gimic just took off From there, & was an easy Fan Fav at the time.
Incoherent ?
What,.. you couldn't understand what he was saying either ???
On the Warrior DVD,.. It is so fantastic,.. when some of the Big Namer's walk you threw the Famous Warrior vs Macho Man Battles. .. They all kinda Laugh,.. when you are laughing,.. No One understood a Damn word either one ever said in any of thier Rants in front of the Camera.
BTW,.. I was a Huge Warrior Fan, when I was like 13.
I viewed the Warrior beating Hogan as "passing the torch" .
Warrior had just as many fans as Hogan did at the time of that,.. & Warrior also was held in very high reguards to alot of Kids,.. maybe more so. My Dad took me & my brother to a few WWF venues at the time of all that nonsense,.. The Kids would go crazy over the Warrior,.. Most of them Wore something Warrior,.. over Hogan. Well before he Was WWF Champ.
It's everything Warrior did after that,.. that ruined the guy.
He drowned in his Own "Awesomeness" .Last edited by BlackKnight; Feb 20, '09, 9:31 PM.... The Original Knight ..., Often Imitated, However Never Duplicated. The 1st Knight in Customs.

My Dads a huge wrestling fan, going back to the days of Haystack Calhoun (who could whup anybody nowadays), and while he still watches all the shows, the only ones who he says are worth watching anymore are the Mexican wrestlers (I'm not sure what league...the show airs in spanish up here!?)who used to be on TLN up here in Canada. They really are athletes who put in a honest effort for the show.No standing around making pointless threats, no grandstanding nonsence with rock music and fireworks, just wrasslin'!
I admit, I'm no expert, having gave up on the "sport" back when Stampede Wrestling left the airwaves, but I agree with Dad. I watch WWE, etc. with him when I visit and all of them are degrading into schtick and schlock. None of the big names really do much more than gab and make faces anymore. There are a few who still put in the effort in the ring, but for the most part it's almost totally unwatcheable anymore. I could care less about the crappy storylines, and how many times McMahon's "died" or been "beaten up", or watch his kid make amends by beating up on 4 guys with a bamboo kendo stick that just happened to be lying on the mat....Either throw down, or shut up and go home I say (not to their faces of course!)
I cant say much for Bret Hart as I've never met the guy (who is a Calgarian), but I met his brother Bruce back in the eighties when he was still touring with the old mans Stampede Wrestling. They came to the small town near where our farm was, and we High School kids helped them set up and watched them practice/choreograph their matches. Bruce was a decent guy, easy too talk to, and was more than willing to show us all how they did some of the stunts. Bad News Allen, Makhan Singh, The Great Gamma....they were there too, and all came across as decent guys (although Bret Harts last book kinda said otherwise.) Bad News Allen even came to our HS Grad carwash fundraiser with a Cadillac full of hookers....or "fans" as he called them.
(anybody else remember Stampede Wrestling? )"Crayons taste like purple!"Comment

The one where McMahon Jr has Randy Orton out on his feet is beyond laughable...even for scripted story lines.sigpicComment

Yeah, I think real world, Orton would squish McMahon into paste.
You really have to feel for the wrestlers who have to go through the motions with this stuff. Some of them are probably so roided up they dont notice how corny and contrived some of this stuff is, but I'll bet a lot of them do...and feel like idiots for going through with it.
Too bad they couldnt come up with a real league, with real competitions. Everybody earned points through a season, and the guy (or gal) at the top won the belt....once per season, not every other week, when the belt always ends up with whomever is selling the most toys and DVD's that week....or worse, everybody has a belt of some kind!?"Crayons taste like purple!"Comment
