Last time I went was a few months ago and it was duck pins. I hope bowling does not become a thing of the past. It is fun.

We go every so often . . . and have fun every time we go.
I don't much care for the disco bowling, black light and such that they throw down every hour or so!

Back when I was in high school, and living w/ my dad, Bowling was a Sunday event. I tried bowling, and realized very quickly that I suck at it, (even today). After that, I pretty much went for the food and video games. The Lake Forrest Lanes had a new "Donkey Kong" machine and we couldn't get enough of it. After the novelty wore off, we (the kids in the house) stayed home while my dad and his girlfriend went bowling.
Sometimes, I'll take my class bumper bowling, which they kinda like. One bowling alley plays movies on a big over head screen while you play, and on Friday nights they do disco lights while you bowl.
So I guess it's more the event than the actual sport.Last edited by HardyGirl; Feb 18, '09, 2:06 PM."Do you believe, you believe in magic?

Not to get off subject but we stumbled across an old school roller skating rink about 20 minutes from our house (the type with the wooden floors and disco ball).
They even rented the old school skates and had couples skating, speed skating, reverse skating etc. It was a lot of fun to take the family and bring back old memories.
The owner told me that her husband opened the rink back in the 1950's and after he died, she decided to keep it open as a tribute to his love for it (apparently he was some type of competitive roller skater)."The farther we go, the more the ultimate explanation recedes from us, and all we have left is faith."

I drink beer at bowling alleys.
My friends never told me I could actually join in on their games.
It's cool though
Seriously, though--- I'm along the lines of HardyGirl---
more DONKEY KONG than bowling....'cause I'm horrible at it."No. No no no no no no. You done got me talkin' politics. I didn't wanna'. Like I said y'all, I'm just happy to be alive. I love to Bowl. As a kid I use to watch Bowling for Dollars on channel 9 WOR-tv in new York. hosted by the late Bob Murphy Tv and Radio announcer of The New York Mets. I loved it so much that my Dad took me to a see the broadcast from the Old MSG bowling Lanes and I got to meet Mr.Murphy who was awesome guy.Comment

No worries HardyGirl.
That was juat a coincidence
that made you think I was correcting your spelling there.
I capitalize certain words or phrases a lot in my
posts for extra emphasis----and I capitalized DONKEY KONG
and lowercased "bowling" for comparison/contrast
...plus, I really enjoy capitalizing classic VIDEO GAMES!
PAC-MAN----Q-BERT------ZAXXON!!!
Okay----I'll calm down"No. No no no no no no. You done got me talkin' politics. I didn't wanna'. Like I said y'all, I'm just happy to be alive. I think I'll scoot over here right by this winda', let this beautiful carriage rock me to sleep, and dream about how lucky I am." - Chris MannixComment
