Anybody else used to like Bowling ?

I'm not really a big fan of bowling now for a few reasons.
    Too expensive ...
Alleys are too far away ...
I'm kind of leary about wearing community shoes ....
    And just too much trouble.

But, back in the 70's, I used to love bowling.
My average score was about 140 -- so I was no hustler
    But it was fun.
.. and I did get my share of turkey's

Seems like since then a lot of alleys have closed down and bowling is slowly becoming just a thing of the past.

I think the 70's was bowling's big last stand.

I love to bowl. I have my own bowling ball (grape and silver swirl) and shoes, so I don't have to worry about the community thing. Back in high school we went all the time, usually to midnight bowling. They would turn the lights out and add a colored pin to each lane. If the colored pin came down as the head pin and you got a stike you would win a free game or free food. Fun times. Now my yougest son loves to go. They usually have 3 games, burger, fries and a drink for like $7 bucks during the week.

Bowling here is in full swing. In fact, we just had a new alley open up about 3 weeks ago. Plus a lady in my office is in a league. So I think bowling is alive and well, at least here.

Where I grew up in Jersey, we had about 4 alleys within 20 miles of me.
One of them was a tiny 5 lane one in the middle of a cow field

      Today, there's only 1 left.

Where I live now, I think the closest alley is like 40 miles away.

Real bowling takes place outdoors on the grass lawn dear boy.

Not this funny indoor malarky aiming at funny little plastic wobbly things.

My extended family used to go either bowling or play putt putt every time we were all together. I haven't done either in years now.

I used to get really bored with mini-golf

It was ok for about 5 minutes, and then I lose interest.

            Same with driving ranges

The bowling alley around my high school use to be the hang out for skipping school.Arcade,Pool,Bowling, good food.It was a trip,I spent most of my junior and senior year there we had fake FIU ID's (Florida International university) so when they came and picked up all the skippers we would just sit and crack up,cause we had our ID's. GOOD TIMES!!! it has gotten crazy expensive though

I go bowling with my kids about once or twice a year. We had two bowling alleys here in town and a duck pin alley. Two closed down (including the duck pin which was my favorite) and all that is left is one alley.

I never bowled in a league or anything but will usually bowl about a 120 on a bad day and up around 160 or so on a good day.

Actually last year, I was on a business trip in Lake Tahoe and we had one of those team bonding things at a bowling alley in Reno that apparently isn't opened to the public and is strictly used by professional bowlers.

I have no idea how I did it but bowled the best game of my entire life. It was a 270!!!
Everything was a strike except one or two which spared. They had a prize for highest score of the group and I think one person beat me with a 275 but he was obviously a serious bowler since he had his own shoes, ball, and bowling glove.

just went a couple of weeks ago for the first time in over a decade. I was just going to meet some friends before the UFC pay-per-view, and ended up playing a few rounds.
I was surprised to see a ton of teenagers show up at around 9:30 for the "glow-in-the-dark-rock-n-roll-bowl" or whatever it's called. Any sport I can drink beer and play is cool with me.

I Still Bowl, but It's been a long time. There are a couple of lanes near me but there kinda dingy. Over the holidays I was hoping to go Bowling at a Brand New Bowling Alley near where my family Lives in NM. They ended up delaying the opening so now I have to wait till the next time I go back. I've often thought about buying my own Ball and Shoes

My wife and I are in mixed couples Sunday league and 3 of my kids are also in youth bowling leagues. Bowling seems to be the big indoor sport in our area for both kids and adults.

I still really love to bowl, but only when we are back in small town Indiana. The NYC bowling alleys aren't the same, by far. My wife who is from NYC, loves bowling in Indiana even more than I do. She thinks it's like stepping back in time.

My folks were the ones into bowling. They bowled in leagues in NJ and NY.

I still remember bowling regularly with my older brother.
He was a big guy and when he threw the ball -- he threw that ball.
It wouldn't hit the floor till it was half way down the alley
The owners used to holler at him everytime we went
                            Good times

used to bowl in high school only cuz a girl i liked was in the league. turned out to be lots of fun. had a friend who always liked to eat jelly bellies while bowling and he accidentally stepped on the waxed lane and slipped causing those jelly bellies to fly out of his pocket and spill all over the lane.
