So...what did your friends think of the costume? Did you warn them about me beforehand, that I'm the most obsessed Planet of the Apes fan?

Next year I'll be there again...but I am going to make my own wig instead of a wig that is pieced together, and see how that goes, if that improves the overall look. Plus, I'm going to tweak the costume a little bit. And, I know what to expect now, so I will improve the overall makeup/hair application.
They said your costume looked great...they were very impressed, Jessica.

No...I didn't tell them beforehand because I didn't know they were going...they told me after the fact.

It was not hard to breathe at all. I was just worried about not being able to blow my nose.

I could actually drink from a real cup if I was very careful. I cut a breathing air passage underneath the muzzle for my nostrils and coated it with latex to prevent moisture absorption. I didn't eat anything solid all day. I thought that I would eat some cereal when I got home after removing the makeup, but I was too tired. And I freaked out because the black tooth enamel refused to brush off my teeth...after trying to remove it for a very long time...I had to swab it off with alcohol. Perhaps I may have been able to eat something solid after all. I just didn't want to touch up the tooth black enamel in case I missed and hit the muzzle.

And I can't wait to do it again. But probably not for Halloween. It's too much effort for my coworkers.
I'd be sweating like a pig under all that, lol.

Ok, well I guess it's time I make my report!

Having gone to Comic Con a few years ago, I kinda knew what to expect. I was told Wonder Con was on a smaller scale, but you couldn't prove that by me! Man was it crowded! I was planning on attending a couple of forums, but it was just too crowded. Instead of letting people in to sit down and then telling people it was full when the capacity was reached, they made people wait in this insanely LONG line. There went that plan. I decided just to cruise the dealers hall instead. I discovered what I like to call "Celebrity Row" (or rather rows). Jessica was somewhere else in the hall on her photo tour. LOL! When I got to the row that had Don Pedro Colley (mutant from Beneath the POTA), I had to call Jessica! It took her about 10 mins. to reach me, but it was worth it. Her reaction was priceless! Jessica was literally shaking when she saw him! Don Pedro was such a sweetheart, just a big ole teddy bear of a guy. Jessica got his autograph and a hug. I was really happy for her. My big moment is when I met Pamelyn Ferdin. Some of us were talking about her on the Classic Toys board during a discussion about The Curiosity Shop Saturday monring TV show. Anyway, I saw her table and was instantly excited. I was 5 years old when The Curiosity Shop was on the air, and she was my favorite character. I told her this and she was really happy that someone actually remembered that show. She told me hardly anyone mentions it when she does these appearances. A photo of the show wasn't on the table (though I did see a Star Trek shot and a Space Academy one as well), so she dug into her boxes and found one for me! It's not an actual photo, it's a photo of the cover of one of the paper doll punch out books of the show. That's was fine w/ me! She signed it for me. Then I mentioned that I also like Space Academy, so I got that one as well. I took a photo w/ her. I even told her that we have a friend in common. (Billy Mumy) That surprised her. She gave me a big hug and thanked me for remembering her Saturday morning shows. After that, I went in search of Adam West. I did get to talk to him, shake his hand and take his picture. I opted out of the autograph b/c it was $50! ($30 to take a photo w/ him) Pamelyn charged $20 per pic and I got to take a photo for free! But he was nice, though you can tell he's still full of himself. Some other celebs I talked to were:

David Hedison (Voyage To The Bottom Of The Sea)
Gary Lockwood (from the pilot of Star Trek)
Janie Luner (from Just the Ten Of Us)
          Michelle Scarabelli (from Alien Nation)
The voice of Charlie Brown (name escapes me at the moment)
Charlotte Stewart (Little House On the Prairie)
Erin Gray (Buck Rogers) I just got to say Hi, she was busy!
Don Pedro Colley (Beneath the POTA)

I bought a t-shirt and DVD for The Falcon, and film cells and a t-shirt for me. The costume contest was interesting. Each contestant or group didn't just walk up on stage, they had to put on this little production number. There were 27 entries (29 originally, 2 were scratched). The contest was at 8:30 at night, and the final prizes were given at 10:45! (BTW, the Star WARS entry won the LucasFilm prize, Star Trek won something else). the Teen Titans won the DC prize. There were other prizes. I think Jess got gypped. These teen girls dressed like the "Gotham Girls" won a trophy over her, and their costumes weren't even all that great. I was just happy she got to live her dream of being an ape for a day. It was fun, although I don't think I'll go on a Saturday anymore. too crowded!

Hector, I didn't meet the guy you mentioned. I don't know much about Bob Wilkins or the Creature Feature show out here, I just knew the one hosted by The Creep in NYC.

Hec, you could sweat through the mask. It's the wig that makes it warm. And the bodies milling about. It was mind over matter. Once it's glued on, you forget it's on. Except for the people that kept chasing you down and really staring at you...coming into your personal space, you actually forget you have stuff glued on.

Oh man...I used to be madly in love with Pamelyn Ferdin...she was one of my early crushes, lol.

I remember she was in a Clint Eastwood flick (The Beguiled)...and she got to kiss good ol' Clint, lol.

Didn't she become a registered nurse or something?

I certainly think taking a picture with Adam West for $30 is a far better deal than his $50 autograph fee...the picture is cheaper and much, much cooler.

                  You friends with Bill Mumy?

OK. Your wish is my command. So are you up to getting under the goo? I'll hook you up!!

But I'm warning you....gorillas have that leather vest that covers your back and chest area. And it's closed up. Orangutans may have the jacket, but if it's not lined it should not be as hot as a gorilla vest...and you can leave it open. Or you could go in just the purple sleeveless outfit, but you'd have to wear fur on your arms...orangutans would be cooler as far as the heat intensity meter. It's what I think, based on the costume design.

At least you wouldn't be filming in Arizona heat. That's what I would think of and immediately my body would cool of. Mind over matter, Hec. You can do it.

Sharry, You ought to get Bill Mumy to sign on for a chat. I always wanted to know what the end to his Lost in Space comic story from the 1990's would have been. The book was canceled before the story arc finished. Actually, on second thought, don't send him here as much as I just "geeked" out over the thought. lol.

Hector, why don't you go as the Mego Astronaut next year. That's just a helmet and a jumper that you can unzip when it gets hot
                                It's all good!
