    Jeremy Lusk RIP

    Freestyle motorcross X Games champion...

The Associated Press: Freestyle motocross racer Jeremy Lusk dies

This is NOT the actual footage where he died...but it was the exact same stunt that took his life...the Hart Attack Indian Air Backflip.

YouTube - Jeremy Lusk crashes doing hart attack indian air backflip

A Brit had a similar accident last year...he is a quadriplegic now.

    Dangerous profession.

The actual fatal stunt is on youtube...but it's too graphic to post here.

It's pretty bad. I feel for this young man and his wife/family. I think it takes a lot of skill and courage to do what these guys do, but you can only push the bounderies so far before something horrible happens. I don't think it's a stupid activity at all, I'm sure some of the fat, middle age guys around here think so, but at least these guys are out living it up rather than sitting at a computer scratching their balls all day.

I'd rather be scratching my balls than having to have someone else do it for me.

That's actually pretty funny. And I get your point, hard to live "life on the edge" in a wheelchair right? Still, poor kid was only 24 years old, way to young to go.

When somebody performs a stupid-dangerous stunt and dies, I feel about the same way towards them as to someone who jumped off a building.

                IMO they don't deserve sympathy

                  Hmmmmm....

People are drawn to certain dangerous things in life.

Some things don't SEEM dangerous on the surface and some do...

To some, it's too much sugar which can lead to diabetes related death---
or excessive sunbathing (skin cancer-death)----or too much alcohol
(liver damage-death)---or too much women (dying on the streets flat broke!)----

How do you quanify this kind of stuff?

Who's to blame for what actions----when these people aren't hurting
anyone but themselves----purely in the pursuit of their own happiness?

                  Y'know?

That's how I tend to look at stuff like this.

It's pretty extreme-- the "stunt stuff", yeh----I mean on the surface it DOES
come off like a deathwish---but here's a guy who wanted that "buzz"
of "living on the edge" by performing those stunts---and he paid
                  the ultimate price for it.

                  Hopefully it was worth it.

But, personally, I don't think anyone has the right to judge here...

...only HIS soul knows if it was indeed "worth the price".

I definitely would not put a military person in this catagory.

Their jobs are tough but they need to be done by somebody.

Military people are heroes and I salute them all.

This guy killed himself for basically no reason.

                    He's no hero ......

He's no villain either, in my eyes.

Just like the military dude---doing what he believes in.

How can you compare someone in the military to a bike rider? I just don't understand the analogy. Nothing wrong with a guy who like to ride motorcycles but no one should be suprised when he dies. And BTW Huedell military men and women are heroes. Just because you don't believe in what they do that is no reason to say they are not heroes.

Please ----you just put some awfully controversial words in my mouth.

Usually when this happens around here, I don't get apologies...I get exponential insults---going into the PERSONAL realm because of
                          who knows why.....working off steam?

Please re-read the posts regarding this here in this thread and get a clue
                          about what I was saying.

get a clue? I think you get insults because you come off as rude. I will happily reread the post but think before you post also.

I hear tou tx....I make quite stark statements...sometimes
at the risk of touching a nerve.

                              However---I feel justly provoked...
Yeah---I said "get a clue" about what I'm saying because I'm a bit sensitive to those who have no clue about what I said---especially paraphrasing
something like me saying that military men are not heroes...how could one
come to that (very politically loaded) conclusion from what I wrote?

The phrase "get a clue" may have been terse---but I thought it was
appropriate....sincere apologies if it was too much.
