You've seen how busy the Replica, EMCE, and Cast-A-Way forums are
In all honesty I hadn't. I never read those forums, but I just took a glance and saw a lot of peeps are excited about the figures and could see why you thought I was stiring things up. Thats was not my intent, just how I felt at the moment after conducting searches for some megos and getting a ton of repro stuff(and some cleverly worded) that I had sift through.
I didn't even know there was CA and a Phantom coming out.
With the repros, everyone should be able to strategically afford the originals now. I did it long before there were any of these. And, believe me, I didn't have what is referred to as expendible income on a non-web graphic designer's salary. I just had patience and persistence. (plus I didn't eat very many lunches and traded off doubles I purchased much less than their estimated value by carefully scouring ebay).
Now the prices on all that have been cloned are indeed way down.

If you have an opinion about toys popular or not, it should be welcome here. This debate has gone round and round so it's not the first time. There are those who worship repros and those who despise them. I actually enjoy my Ralph and Khan figure. However, I did see the value of my Romulan and several others drop like a rock. And I understand why, supply and demand. Those who would settle for a reproduction will. Those who will not, no longer have to compete in the open market for those who do. Therefore the price is not driven upward as much and lessening the value. I didn't pay $2000 each for my SI's because that would have been insane in my world. But I did pay. just not what they were going for before the repros. And that was a positive effect. I did pay like $20 for the Ralph and the Khan. However, I do think $300 for a Ralph is bit like redistribution of wealth. We'll take this value of a Romulan and flood the market like an ant colony, then make few repros of a figure thus directing the value from an original rare Mego to a newly created collectble. It's not age that creates value but popularity times supply and demand.
Other than that, I'm ok with it. And no bully around here will ever prevent me from expressing my opinion. I just care not to cause problems on the issue. It is a round and round debate. And I think Paul and David are great people. I'd invite them out for a beer any old time. That's what it's all about. You don't have to agree on all things all the time.
I'm just happy to have a collection of rare figures that others can only get through reproduction. It was fun acquiring them, just like a treasure hunt.
"No. No no no no no no. You done got me talkin' politics. I didn't wanna'. Like I said y'all, I'm just happy to be alive. I think I'll scoot over here right by this winda', let this beautiful carriage rock me to sleep, and dream about how lucky I am." - Chris Mannix

The EMCE Khan is NOT a repro, which makes it super cool.
Me likey repros. Me Conan would be incomplete without Doc Mego sword, scabbard and yellow belt. He's very pretty that way, and still worth a pretty penny.
Hobob's post on the previous page is quite possibly the best commentary on this topic I've ever come across.
