I wish all the repro megos...

Of original issue would be gathered and steam rolled. Just a thought I had.

I would say about 90% of the CTVT's stuff needs to be! Pure ****!

Paul Clark (Dr. Mego) only made repos in the beginning as a source for pieces that were missing on figures that were hard to come by.
People have turned it into an art and now it has gone beyond anything most people have expected.

I don't collect MEGO figures to seal them forever in glass clam shells and steer at them behind a metal framed shelf encased in bullet proof glass. Not my cup of tea.

I like original megos but if I can't get the original source, I will settle for a reproduction piece. Mainly now for my daughter who enjoys setting them up or playing with them. That is what got me into "customizing megos" was the fact she wanted certain characters and I had to get crafty to meet the child's needs.

All this repo Star Trek stuff is cool I think. I really wasn't into Star Trek as much as the majority on here.
I think if there were actual reproduction Words Greatest Super Hero figures, they would have to look as good or better to get me to buy them because between my daughter and I, we have over a hundred and some customs, growing strong.

I'm not a big fan of repro stuff. I can see the desire for hard to find (or impossible) parts being made but to me it just makes it so hard to trust you are getting 100% original vintage Mego when you buy a figure now. The more figures and pieces that get reproduced just makes it that much more likely to get taken at some point. Especially when the stuff is unmarked. There is almost no way to tell when looking at a crappy ebay picture sometimes. Even worse if you are buying from a 'flipper' who just picks these things up at auctions or estate sales, etc and knows NOTHING about them. How can they know what's real or repro when sometimes even WE have to look twice at things?
I prefer the "new" repro figures like Sulu, Chekov, Gorn that add to the original issues rather than copies of old Mego stuff.

I have to say I am pretty happy with many of my repros...figures I probably couldn't have afforded, but still nice to look at.

I love the repros! Like I could have afforded the Romulan and the Andorian on Ebay or a toy show. And like I've maintain, they're still Megos. Paul just breathed life into the old concept.

I own a complete collection of CTVT Super Knights and Robin Hoods. I would simply not have the funds for the originals, so I'm glad the repros exist.

And I smell a post that was designed to stir things up. If you start a post like this...you're going to hear both sides. If you don't like REPOS...it's real simple...DON'T BUY them!! But why would you want to deny the rest of us that want them...the chance to own them?

I'm not a big fan of repro items ... but at the same time I have a friend who is just happy to get a figure in his price range. it's a give and take type of thing ... like with any hobby really.

Really mego and the repros we have to put up with is nothing compaired to other hobbies ... so I'm not too angry at repros in the mego world because I know it could be much worse.

And you can live in both worlds, too. I have all of my T1s that are all original. Then I have the T2s that I've been collecting to do some custom things with things like costumes and such. Then I have the not so good WGSHs that I've fixed up. Some boots and such are repros. That I have given to my kids to play with. They get a complete figure and actually get to play with the "same" toys that I had as a kid. And that is where my joy of keeping the T1 museum pieces comes in. I can show my kids those without fear that they will be pulled out and played with when I'm not looking. My kids got to open their own EMCE Kirk and Kilngon on Xmas. Yeah!

For the record though I do agree that the repro pieces should be stamped or marked though so that confusion won't set in. I have a few junk boxes with pieces that I don't know if they are or aren't and that does get annoying. I do know to look for the "DM" on Doc's stuff.
                              It's all good!
