There is a local TV station that Christmas morning they are going to show a log in a fireplace and play Christmas tunes as a soundtrack. I actually think that is cool.
    It's all good!

As one of the few chicks on this board, I like all those made for TV Christmas movies that are on every night.. However, I wish they would delve into the archives and not play the same ones so much. Do you notice that ABC Family and ABC are playing the same stuff over and over? Shrek the Halls has been on 3 times! They actually aired Charlie Brown's Xmas twice! Now really, there have been enough TV Specials and movies over the years, that you'd think they could go a whole month and never show the same thing twice!

I will be at my in-laws on Christmas eve, and while I am cemented as a member of their family at this point, I think crapping on the TV would still do some damage that might take a while to come back from.

I would also like to see some of those old Christmas variety shows that used to be a staple during the holidays.

Bing Crosby singing around the piano with David Bowie anyone?

I tried to watch It's a Wonderful Life a few times.

I could never sit through the whole thing...

                Crazy boring.

It's a Wonderful Life imo, is probably the most boring movie i've ever ALMOST seen

Funny... to me, Its A Wonderful Life is the best movie ever made!

We were just discussing tonight the lack of good Christmas movies/specials this year....We've been "Elf"-ed and "Grinch"-ed (Jim Carrey version) to death.

As for "A Christmas Story", we're die-hard fans, have already watched it on DVD a few times and will have it on in the background during the marathon BUT by Christmas Day you're definitely sick of it. But it helps keep the passage of time when you run into the same scenes again and again. Better than a watch.

I remember when they ran a special once and if you missed it tough. Now they show things three, four, five times. I think that damn live-action Jim Carrey Grinch movie has been on non-stop, so no complaining about The Christmas Story marathon! And I can't really stand watching the networks broadcast the classic Grinch cartoon anymore, they have it so butchered up to fit in extra commercials- we just watch it on DVD and be done with it.
And if I have to see the Miser Brothers anymore, I'll scream!!! Now there's a good thing what got roont!

You know what I'd like to see? An all-day marathon of Andy Williams' Christmas Specials, maybe Bob Hope's, any other oddball stuff that got out there in the 60s & 70s. Captain & Tennile, Osmonds, Flip Wilson, any other old Christmas Specials they could find. I don't care how goofy and dated it is...those Williams folks was happy to be singing in each other's company, even if his ex-wife who shot her lover the skier was there- she was singin' along with 'em anyhow. Now that's the Spirit of Christmas!

Run it all day on TV Land instead of freakin' Cosby Show reruns & Scrubs (And speaking of which...are there no shows not being broadcast on EVERY OTHER DAMN CHANNEL, TV LAND? Remember when it was CLASSIC TV, TV LAND? Remember when you ran SATURDAY MORNING KIDS PROGRAMMING LIKE SHAZAM, ISIS & KROFFT SHOWS, TV LAND? Remember when you showed TV SHOWS INSTEAD OF MOVIES BECAUSE YOUR NAME IS FREAKIN' TV LAND, TV LAND? Also when you figure out the TV LAND part , TV LAND, call the CARTOON NETWORK and explain that LIVE-ACTION MOVIES AREN'T CARTOONS, CARTOON NETWORK!) Sorry, I rant. Merry Christmas.

I never watch tv on Christmas eve or Christmas day. I'm either at my Family's house or they're here in mine. I grew up always at parties. Tv is always lame this time of year. Thank goodness for all the bowl games on new years day......

TV Land has been dead to me for a couple of years now. I get so ticked when I flip through the guide and see their line-up...especially the MOVIES and EXTREME MAKEOVER!

Not Christmas-related but I wish they'd show some of those old shows...UNCUT...that they never air but always try to sell you over-priced DVDs of like Dean Martin Show or Dean Martin's Celebrity Roast (they could do them without being vulgar and saying the F-word 1,000 times unlike the comedy central ones) or Carol Burnett show or Red Skelton
Or even old comedies they NEVER air either like My Little Margie or Burns & Allen, I married Joan, Bachelor Father, Life of Riley, etc
I'm sick of TVLand too. I love Andy Griffith but change it up once in awhile, huh? There's 50+ years of shows out there.
