    Four Days in HELL!

As some of You know, I live in New England...and We got hit with worst Ice Storm EVER! I lost power 2:00 am Friday...and just got it back 9:00 this morning!

I stayed up all night Saturday(called into work on Sunday)tending the Fire place over the Garage ALL NIGHT...so My Wife & I didn't FREEZE to death! The pipes in My hot water Baseboard Heating would have froze & burst Sunday, if My Brother-in-law hadn't save My sorry Butt with a Generator He had...thank God for Family!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well...I've learned My lesson(finally!), I going buy a Generator, and have Switchbox installed to the control Pannel. I WILL NEVER get caught with My Pants down like this again.....true misery!

We have radient heating with waterlines in the floor, and last night our water heater ignitor decided to take a dump. Sweet. It was only -15 outside. We fired up the wood burner and kept it at bay, then I installed a new part just a little bit ago, and it fired back up, thank the gods for that. Oh, I also had to thaw a hughe block of ice and snow that had clogged up the exhast. I love winter. Miami is starting to look better and better. Glad your back at it and no frost bite.

Glad you're doing ok, that ice storm looked pretty bad. Getting a generator was a great idea. They are truly worth their weight in gold. In my house, a sump pump + no electricity = bad news for our finished basement. So of course we have a generator, but I've been thinking of getting one of those automatic back up power systems that run on natural gas, and immediately kick in when the power goes out. We know people who have them and they say it provides great piece of mind, well worth the two or three grand they cost.

A few years ago we got hit with an ice storm here in NE TN and were without power for about 5 days. A fireplace and kerosene heater saved my butt. As the meat in my freezer would start to thaw I fired up the gas grill and ate pretty good.

Thanks for the well wishes Guys. The worst part is just the fact that I live in such a cold climate(and that I wasn't prepared)...losing power in Florida, you won't FREEZE to death!

It's not the heat...it's the humidity.

Well, bring the generator with you when you move down, you'll eventually need it.

And here I am complaining that the heater didn't kick in. I have to call a repair person...it was 52 degrees in the house this morning. Dylan said, Mom, that's an OUTSIDE temperature!!

Hope you didn't freeze something off with your pants down in the cold!

Can't fool with Mothernature. Make sure to have the generator wired in properly with a transfer switch so that you don't back feed the electrical grid!

You should move to California...we only have deadly earthquakes every few decades or so...oh...wait a minute...we have lots of wildfires too.

You better stay in New England.
