My wife and I have seen Billy Joel a few times, Billy Joel and Elton John together, Duran Duran, Paul McCartney and some smaller local shows, but have felt older and older each time we go. We mostly try to save up for Broadway shows that we would want to see that tour to Baltimore or Washington. Saw Spamalot last year.
    It's all good!

I love live music but can not afford the insane prices. I would rather buy a CD or DVD and be able to enjoy the music. I hate the crowds and obnoxious people anymore. Went to a Stones concert a few years ago and had this super obnoxious drunk next to me. Halfway through the concert I told him I would buy him a drink and took him to the farside of the Georgia Dome than got him a beer and ditched him. He never found his way back!

      Best $$$ I ever spent!
Too many toys. Not enough space!

Used to be big into going to concerts when I was in High School. Now I could probably bear maybe one a year. Attended the Metallica Concert last week and it was a really good show but dont plan on some more hearing loss this year. My list for attending if them come to Fresno is as follows
        Metallica
System of a down (if they ever get back together)
        Korn
        Slipknot

I used to be a big concert goer back in the day. That was when it was an event. Not just the concert, but getting the tickets. We used to wait out all night outside the Record store that was also a ticket master. It was a big party. We'd get stupid drunk and do stupid things. My first big rock concert was Queen. Glad I went to that one since it was their last US tour. 1982. The ticket price was $12.00 plus .50 to ticketmaster. That was when you could AFFORD to go to concerts. We'd go at least once or twice a month to see somebody. Then the 90's hit and things got weird. Prices went stupid high and I just couldn't afford it anymore. That, and like everyone else I started to not be able to deal with the crowds. I also lost my desire to get stupid drunk and wait outside for tickets.

I've seen most of my favorites and still have most of the ticket stubs. These days there are only a few I haven't seen that could tempt me, and some of those I've actually seen before but always want to see again.

I've never seen but would want to go see:
          The Mavericks
          Steve Earle
          Keb Mo
ELO (with Jeff Lynne or just Jeff solo- Honestly though, I'd prefer to time machine back to the 70's for this one)

But would always be tempted to go see again:

          John Hiatt
          Ian Hunter
          Tom Waits

I got to work on stage with him when Ozzfest was at the venue I worked at. Nice guy and you really can't understand a word he says. One of the cool memories from that two years.

I go to "concerts" on average once a month. Sometimes I will go a couple months and not see any bands, then others I will go to a different show every weekend. That being said, I rarely see bands play larger than a couple hundred capacity venue. And ticket prices generally top out at about $20, but are usually less. I have seen hundreds of bands but I have only gone to maybe 5 or 6 big arena type things. I loathe them. The last few "big" shows I have been to were the Interpol, White Stripes, and The Pixies... none of which compare to the size of an ACDC concert, but in my mind were teetering on the edge of "too big".

We saw the same Queen 1982 tour but obviously in different cities.

I've seen a gazillion bands in bars and clubs but have never been to an arena rock concert and don't really plan on it (I did go to a Lollapalooza back in '95--but only cuz I was on the guest list!) Not really my style at all--I'm way more into the intimate and up close "rock" experience. Shelling out a $100 to see some geezer summer classic crud tour is about the worst thing I can think of to throw my money at......

But as I've gotten older I tend to shy away from bars anyway. I mean from my early twenties thru my mid 30's I had been to a million bars and seen 100,000 bands and at this point in my life I'm kinda wore out. Crowds bum me out now and make me feel suffocated. A few months ago Michael Hurley played at the record store where I work and it ruled and I didn't have to go to a bar and even got paid for being there! A win-win!

I go to concerts and festivals all the time. Went to see Slipknot last Sunday, probably going to another concert on Saturday too.
The band I've seen the most (a dozen times) is Metallica, seeing them again in March

I've seen so many live concerts, from small local venues to arenas, it's insane. If I counted them all, it's probably a couple of thousand. Especially if you count the shows where I was actually performing, which isn't quite the same. But in terms of concerts I purchased tickets for, yeah it's been hundreds at least. Gosh, just counting KISS and Cheap Trick concerts alone.....I've seen KISS probably about 20 times I believe. Cheap Trick I've seen at least 16 times since 1978 (first saw them with my parents when I was five up in Wisconsin!) Saw the Ramones several times. Saw Metallica about 6 times or so. Megadeth more times than I can even recall at this point, lol. Especially in the hard rock/metal scene, there's not too many bands I haven't seen at least once.

I never got to see Queen, Zep, Floyd, Thin Lizzy......those would be my top four that I regret not having seen.

I agree about the concert ticket situation. They've just gone nuts now, and alot of times it's not even the artists' faults. But I have paid some astronomical prices by my own choice in order to get special tickets now and then. I once paid several hundred dollars to get 3rd row center seats for KISS/Aerosmith. Crazy I know but I'm glad I did it, since I went with a very good friend who wound up falling ill and dying about three months later. The memory of us hanging out and having such fun was worth the money for sure.

No, I had Billy Squier. Detroit let him finish his set.

Talk about expensive, it cost me 400 bucks to go see The Police, but it was my first time so it's all good.

Well, Squier's sound was closer to Queen than the Blasters...that's why the poor lads were almost lynched in Oakland, lol.
