I don't put much stock in the "meaning" of a name. It is a name....most of the meanings come out of ancient times and/or the bible. Neither of which has any relevancy for me.

The most common way it seems to give significance to a name
(other than it sounds good) is to use a name of a person
that you admire----the Jewish tradition (how I got my name)
uses the first letter of that person---not the whole name ergo
why I'm "Hugh" and not "Henry" (my grandfather's name---who I
            was named after).

My dad told me that while name searching he remembered
            the actor "Hugh O'Brian"

----and even though I'm named after my grandfather----and
my aunt (Brian from "B" Brenda)----that's the actual person who "inspired"
my actual name "Hugh Brian"----a celebrity

I look Hugh O'Brian up on wiki every so often---interesting guy.

I bet some of you classic movie buffs know him.
(I sure as heck wouldn't otherwise!)

I pushed for Jabba or Sebulba, but he didn't go for it....

I did put the name Raquel to my daughters mum after Raquel Welch but we kept with the name Hollie.

My dad is a big John Wayne fan and wanted to name me J/W but mum said no and they agreed Wayne John, john being my middle name (parents eh)

My youngest sons name is Adam. My wife just happened to like the name although I tell people he was named for Adam West. My middle name is Wayne. I doubt my parents were thinking of Bruce when they decided on it but it's fun nonetheless.

My first born is Sarah after her greart Great Aunt. My wifes middle name is Leigh but we didn't want Sara Leigh so I changed it to Ashleigh for Ashville NC (Our 2nd anniversary and most likely site of conception) and Leigh for my wife.

My second is named Emily because we liked the name and all our second names came back t Elizabeth so we have an Emily Elizabeth (Clifford the Big Red Dog's owner!)

I like the way the names flow together.

I was named after Clayton Moore.

A friend of mine named his first born son Xavier, and just had his second boy whom was named....wait for it...Logan. Guys been on a big Black Hole kick lately, so I'm betting the next kid (boy or girl) will be called Maximillion!

Lastly, an ex-coworker was named Cornelius after the famous acting monkey of stage and screen. Insisted we call him Corie instead.
His dad was a huge POTA fanatic. His brother's middle name was Aldo, and his sister's middle name was Zira....Didnt make for a happy family unit.
