Does Anyone Know What This Is ? -- perhaps Mexican

    Hi Guys,

I'm trying to find out what this item is .......

A little history on it ...
Back in the 70's me and my buddies used to hang out in an old abandoned house in the woods ... Basically it was our club house.

On the way there, you had to pass a dump used by the local farmer and his workers.
He used to employ Puerto Rican's and Mexican's to work his farm in the summer -- then they'd go back to their country every winter.
    They mostly used this dump.

One day walking past the dump I noticed this laying on top.
I was like GIMME DAT !!!!!!!!

Anyway, 30+ years later, I still have it ---- but never figured out what the hell it is.

Thought i'd run it past you guys and see if one of yous may have a guess....

    Note,
The belt is about 3 ft long ....
Also, the heavy metal buckle (4" in diameter) is not a belt buckle --- it has no clasps to make it remove (only the snaps on the belt that go through it's hoops)

    Anyone have a guess ?
Or, at least who the dude may be ?

His face resembles Mexican President Francisco Madero (from the Mexican Revolution)...but the clothing is all wrong since Madero used to wear suits. That person is wearing something regal or religious and from an earlier era.

    Francisco Madero...

I don't think it's him...the broad shoulder-clothing imagine of the belt buckle throws me off.

I think it's a religious figure...the clothing is an indication of that.

I don't think it's religious because if it was, it would have a cross somewhere in the design.

But if it's Mexican, which I really suspect it is ... would they own a Russian dude belt ?

Well, it's not any of the Mexican presidents and its two emperors...I can't find a resemblance in any of them...

Francisco Madero is the only one that sort of looks like that person in the belt buckle.

It's not marked at all ... But there's a 99.999% chance the person who threw it out is a Mexcan from Mexico ... That's what makes me suspect it's Mexican.
We used to live kind of in the sticks and the farm workers really didn't leave the farm to much -- and when they did, it was to buy groceries and beer at the local store.

Now it could very well be a Spanish historical figure and not Mexican.

Well...Mexico was under both Spanish and French rules at one point or another...so that dude could be either Spanish or French.

Design wise, the item looks like a over the shoulder sling, for attaching sword scabbards to.

Whatever it is, it seems like a strange item to throw out?
