Sorry you suffered damage. I know what I went through when the pipe busted in my house. I can't imagine what you guys are going through. Hopefully the recovery is quick and easy. You're in our thoughts. It's not a doll it's an action figure.Comment

I just talked to my mom. She and my dad are on the way back to the house, but with traffic being so bad they won't be able to get there by dark to beat the curfew, so they're going to try to stay with my relatives who are an hour and fifteen minutes away.
From talking to another uncle, the water was atleast a foot higher than I had thought.ItComment

I was just told today by the reporters we have there that Orange is the worst area hit. I know you weren't looking for sympathy, but you definitely have it from me. I'm glad to hear you were smart enough to get out and stay safe.WANTED - Solid-Boxed WGSH's, C.8 or better.Comment

Thanks, actually I've been out of town for a month and was due back Sunday morning. I watched Gustav come and go, then Ike was a direct hit. Very similarly, I was here and watched Katrina barely miss us. I came back home only to evacuate when Rita rolled in the very next week it seams and hit us head on. The differance with Ike is that we were on the east side of it.ItComment

George. . . . that is really distressing stuff. The Pictures were one thing, but the video is entirely another. Thank Goodness you weren't there, and so many folks got out. All those dead fish and Crocs was a bit shocking too. Water is truely an awesomely powerful destructive force of nature. . . we sometimes forget that! Good luck with whatever happens from here.Comment

It's distressing to hear of the devastastion, but good to hear that you and your family made it out to safety. Items can often be restored, but lives cannot not be replaced. Unfortunately I know from living through a disaster that it is likely to get worse before it gets better. Stay strong, and let us know if you need anything. An old Irish Blessing - "May those who love us, love us; and if they do not love us, may God turn their hearts; and if He does not turn their hearts, may He turn their ankles, that we may know them by their limping"Comment

I'm very thankful for the health and well being of my loved ones and our pets. I know material things can be replaced with enough money. I know it will be an uphill battle with insurance companies. I found these pictures. The first ones are in my nieghborhood.

Some of these don't look too bad, but I'm sure this was after the water level dropped. My street is on the other side of the nieghborhood and always flooded in heavy rains, let alone tidal surge from a hurricane. I'm gonna take what is salvagable and move it as far inland as can.Last edited by GSPUSA; Sep 16, '08, 11:16 AM.ItComment

Ok, I know this is getting old to alot of people. I won't be posting anymore news unless asked until I'm back home. Then I can provide pictures etc. once I have an internet connection somewhere.
Latest update: everything below shoulder level in the house and my appartment was destroyed. This means all my Megos, the ones I've had as kid, all the customs, my C8/C9 MIB Enterprise, everything I aquired as an adult, Mego RC Batman and so many others. Maybe the saltwater wont hurt plastic and maybe the clothes can be washed, but anything paper is history. Also, my car was not accessable because the freezers had floated and fallen blocking the doors into the garage from opening.Last edited by GSPUSA; Sep 16, '08, 2:45 PM.ItComment
